Question about notary and elections

Is anyone aware of any rules or situations involving notaries and political campaigns? The particular issue is someone being a campaign treasurer, also being a notary, and then notarizing documents for the campaign--such as the papers to get the candidate on the ballot in the first place, notarizing petitions for the campaign, basically being in the situation where they are treasurer for the campaign and also being asked to notarize the official filings the campaign makes with the state.

JUST MY OPINION--- NOT LEGAL ADVICE.

I would think that as long as the notary/treasurer is not getting any personal fincancial gain from notarizing the documents (with exception to charging the statutory fee for the notarizations) then it would be ok.

Again just my opinion.

I would think that if you don't want mud slung at you, that person should get some one at arms length. Why invite problems? That's just my opinion for the dollar 380 that it's worth.

Well, if you are the treasurer for a COMPANY, it's usually legal for you to notarize corporate documents. This seems like an equivalent situation and therefore allowed unless something in state notary law prohibits?
