Question for a PA notary?

I did a signing for property in PA. I received two checks from the settlement company. One for my invoiced fee and another for "notary fees". If notarizations are $5.00 each in PA, then this second check covers this amount. Is it normal practice to be paid per notarization and also for the signing? I'm planning on calling them in the morning, but thought someone here may know. TIA

I have never received a split fee from a title company or signing service.

BLue Ink! Notary Fees in CA are $10 per signature ...

You are a California Notary, correct? And your fee for notarizations is $10 per signature, right? And you performed the notarization(s) in California, correct?

Your fee for notarizations, no matter where the property is located, can be up to $10 per signature. Why would you even consider charging less? Did you negotiate the signing for less than $10 per signature? Hope not!

Re: BLue Ink! Notary Fees in CA are $10 per signature ...

Hi Kelly, I guess my post was not very clear. I received an extra check ($55.00) for this signing.. This was above and beyond my fee, which I also received. I was just trying to figure out why I may have received this "tip". Sometimes I think too much! Thanx.
