RE: Notary Ratings Msg #106404

To be honest I was thinking more from a Notary point of view, there are constant complaints about the mass increase in undereducated notaries saturating our work environment.
If one truly was a good notary they would not need to worry about getting a bad rating. This would help eliminate the amount of work going to the notaries that are giving the rest a bad Rep. This would also (I would assume) give the better notaries more work. As of right now short of requesting references there is no way to weed out the notaries whom are misrepresenting their level of experience. Any one can say they have closed over 500 loans, and who can say different. To be honest I was trying to think of a way to show possible clients that you are not a fly by night notary and have the experience to command the respect you deserve.

Teddog "First be prepared to get sued." Really for what slander? I'd love to know where your thought process was going with that one!!!! "Did you pay the notary? Are you just angry because they will NOT work for peanuts?" Well my post did not ever mention my wanting to discredit any notary so your assumption is far from the mark.

"There are a lot variables to consider before you make any statements regarding a notary and they better be in Black and White"

I do not think the rating system should include any comments, after all this is not High School, there's no need to bad mouth or sling accusations at others.

I'm not sure how it would work perhaps the notary could be rated 1-5 on different categories and a grade would appear on their profile. To be honest I think if one truly is worried that they would not make the grade, then they are not the notary that should be hired anyway. If a notary is confident of there skills they would not need to worry.

It was just a thought, weather is was a good one or not is yet to be decided, however at least I'm taking a proactive approach as apposed to simply complaining.

As far as MistarellaFL point:
"Not to mention that some of these people working for SS, many have no idea what is correct and legal when I call for clarification. I certainly don't want an uneducated and untrained SS employee rating me on issues" Now unlike teddogg this is a valid point that I did not think about. Which is why I posted the original comment for opinions. I guess because I am both a notary and an "enemy" I have a different perspective. Everyone In my company whom is in a position to advise a notary, is well educated in the notary laws of each state we work in. If we weren't I would not think the company would still be in business which is why I assumed most other companies that where "worth their weight in gold" would likewise not have undereducated employees, however you know what they say about assumptions...so that would be a very valid concern.

Just a word to the wise. Teddog is the person you don't want to belabor a negative point on. Jump on me...jump on many others, but leave the Teddog out of this or you'll find yourself having no credibility with notaries.

JMHO.

What am I missing here then? If there where a comment seciton contained within a notary rating system, what how would that leave one open to a lawsuit?

Please advise.

Joshua - my post is below the = = =

Here's this post:

You will have to get into this with someone else. All I am telling you is to not be snide with Teddog or you'll have problems being taken seriously.

Snide: Really for what slander? I'd love to know where your thought process was going with that one!!!!

That was hateful. Bad choice.

You've already made your own problems with this. Teddog has ever right to post opinions. Again, be snide to me, be snide to others, but you picked on the wrong poster this time.

I could not care less about your beef with the notary ratings comments that Teddog made.

FYI, there is a notary database out there and it has a rating system on notaries somewhat like Ebay.

Re: RE: Notary Ratings Msg #106404 - Watch for the responses

You'll get 'em now.

Frankly, I could not care less. I'll stand behind every one of my decisions. They were not made without great consideration and concerns. When I was new I lost sleep. Now, I realize that my first instincts are correct.

This is a most fickle industry we work in. SSs have been known to curse me and then beg me to work again. I know yours won't be like than ND.

Thanks kiddo! You obviously have noticed that I mean NO harm to anyone, in anyway. I'm just a 60's kind of person who hates strife.

Gosh I would never of gone to the zoo for a little stroll if I knew this bologna was going to happen. But I did have a very pleasant day! You gotta love those critters.

Off to dinner Brenda.

Thanks again and God Bless!

Teddog

Hey Ted, any of us would do that for you. It's the truth. You are a good, good person. Me, not so much. (mean frown).

Anyhow, the thing is that I was not trying to hassle with this person, but trying to let him know if he had points to share he had gotten off on the wrong foot. Korey and I know how to say we made a mistake...thought maybe Joshua Basil would. It kind of disintegrated, I think.

WHOA! What happened while I was gone!

JB,

I believe you asked what other's thought about Rating Notaries (or did I just read that wrong?) I could be wrong, as I was very tired at the time. My responce was what "I thought" would and could happen if you start to rate notaries on a public forum. Nothing but trouble would ensue.

My point was as follows: If a TC or SS have an issue with any notary settle that in a private way. One-on-one, like clear thinking adults. I really hate to see these "Shred" sessions on this board or anywhere else. These verbal fisticuffs are very unnecessary.

JB Get over it ! You asked and I just responded with what I thought. You are free to do and think whatever you want. Any statements that I make are in no way a personal attack on anyone, in the past, now or in the future.

ps: If a notary is soooo bad that's what we have state officials for they will pull your license.
