Seeking professional opinion
Dear all, yesterday I had to do a short notice simple notarization. After finished, I had a closer look at my journal and noticed that the client has signed with her own blue ink pen. I don't notarize often since my job doesn't require that, so I didn't think of handing her my own black ink pen (which I should have). So now I am really anxious and wonder if I should have the client re-sign. I would truly appreciate your professional advice - is it OK if I have blue ink signatures in my journal or should I re-do?
Thanks a lot,
Stella

Any color ink is fine as long as it is permanent and copieable.

I'm from MA and I've never seen or heard anything about what color ink one should use to record in their journal. I think the important thing is to record their information and signature.
Again, I'm from MA. If I am wrong, then a CA notary should correct me. It would be interesting to learn whether or not a specific ink color is required. I'd advise people not to use any color besides blue or black ink, because other colors look very unprofessional in my opinion.

Some lender and others want docs signed in Blue, some Black. I enter in my journal what ever color the client is using, that way I always know what color the borrower signed with at the time. It is not up to us to decided the color of ink, unless no prefence is made.

I use black ink only in my journal, but I am unaware of any Texas laws that state I can not have them sign in blue. You can check with your SOS just to be sure, but sounds like you are fine.

Thank you all for you replies. I am from CA and the book that I used for my Notary License said that everything in the journal should be in black, but the CA notary law primer doesn's regulate that. Thanks again!
