Strange Question

This is for all you's who live in the boonville towns. Has anyone ever talked to business owners of a small town about getting drop boxes for Fed Ex and UPS put outside of their establishment?? What does it take to get these drop boxes??
The reason Im asking is there is a possibility we could move into a very small town with the drop offs for docs being quite a drive. I know for a fact UPS and Fed Ex stop at the Post Office everyday of this small town to drop packages for delivery, but they dont pick up.
Just wondering if anyone has persuaded a business to do this......

I'm by no means in "the boonies" but I would think you need to contact the management of FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc. and discuss the matter with them. It's their job to secure drop-off locations that meet the needs of their customers.

If you spoke to a business owner who loved the idea of a FedEx box in front of their store but FedEx was not interested, what a waste of time.

Why don't you just have them picked up at your home? I have never ever used a drop box since I started in 2001. I don't even have one close to me with a late pickup.

Good suggestion. Personally, I have many in my neighborhood and don't like to be tied down for a pickup.

Not tied down

I leave the docs on my porch and off I go!!! I don't wait around until they are picked up. Smile

Try doing that in NYC--

If you call any of the major carriers - or I think you can do it on line - they should pick up at your house.

I wasnt sure if it was kosher to have them pick up, but I guess if its the only way to get the docs shipped, then that is the answer. I didnt realize you dont have to be home to meet the driver. I am so used to dropping them, it comes as second nature. Just one of those things you think about if you're moving away from what is usually normal in the course of a day.
