Title Company - Recruiting Call

Good morning from CO. Would appreciate some advise here!

In early December, I received a call from a recruiter with a company that I really would like to work with. I sent in all the required info, and was approved to accept assignments with a vendor number. They sent quite a package of information following that.

To date, I have not received a call from the company's scheduling department. My question is: would it be worth calling them and offering to do a refi or HELOC free of charge within the next couple of weeks if they have something in my area? What do you think that would look like to them? And, have any of you done that? If so, did it help you in getting started with the company. As I said, I really want to work with this company (has good reviews on this board), but don't want to come off as too pushy!!!

Thanks for your help,
Bren

Rick, I certainly don't want to come off as desperate! Thank you, Bren

Re: I think it would make you look desperate.

Brenda, I would simply give the person who recruited you call and say something along of the lines of, "It seemed important to get me signed up with your company when you called me back in December. And yet, I haven't heard from your scheduling people at all."

[Assume there is business in your area. Why else would they seek you out?]

"What has to happen for me to start to get my fair share of jobs in my area?"

Then shut up and wait for a reply.

Don't do anything for free, in that regard, if you can help it. It's bad enough, they don't want to pay you now.

Re: I think it would make you look desperate.

there really are new notaries who offer to do as many as 10 signings free, with the hope of
getting paying business later, dont know if that works but seems most likely the companies
use them for the 10 free signings and move on to someone else. I had a title company contact me several months ago and last week I got my first signing from them, things
often take time. You might want to give them a call.

No! Don't do that...just call and ask if you are in their database and are looking forward to working with them when they have something in your area.

It might look a little desperate for work.

Now a curteousy call or stopping in to introduce yourself would definitely be worthwhile. I find a lot of companies like to know who they are dealing with, and it gives you a little extra bond other than a voice over the phone line.

It worked! Call me and I will sign you up.

Just calling to remind us you are there and make sure no further updates are needed is a great way to keep in touch. Also, letting us know the latest training you have, such as reverse mortgages, # of signings, etc... is a great way to touch a TC or SS.

Hi there Shelley,

Thanks so much for the tips on the call back. I will take your advise. Sometimes you just want to work with a company when they have such good print on the boards. When I received the call from them, I was really excited about it. But, I will give them a call.

Thanks so much,
Bren

why would anyone keep in touch with FASS?

There are plenty of $50 companies out there who treat their notaries like they're all idiots. No point in begging for work from this particular one.

From Bren 2 Bren - Slight modification - - -

I do a guarantee. If I make a mistake or there is an error that I had control over, I fix it....and, the entire job is free.

Any time I do marketing letters / flyers / brochures I reference that my work is guaranteed.

Re: My first reaction to an offer of a free signing ...

If I were a SS or TC, my first question would be why you are willing to work for nothing? Is it because of lack of experience? Lack of quality? I have read the thread and see that your post did help, although I would still interpret it as begging, no one is calling me so I've resorted to working for nothing to prove myself.

Remember, you get what you pay for, no differerence betweeen SAs, SSs or TCs.

Re: My first reaction to an offer of a free signing ...

You know, I did ask for opinions, so....you gave yours. But, from the tone of your post, it would seem like you are attacking me for asking the question...not just giving an opinion.

As I mentioned in the orginal post, this is a company that I want to work with. They called me! It is not that I am desperate for calls or lacking in xperience (always could more, however). And, what do you mean "no difference between SAs, SSs or TCs"?

Re: My first reaction to an offer of a free signing ...

My intent was not to attack.

I was posting using the reaction I would have if I were a TC or SS and was given an offer for free signings. My comment about "no difference between SAs, SSs or TCs" was that we all get what we pay for. And by that I mean a low paying SS or TC gets exactly that: they don't want to pay for quality and experience, so documents are returned that are wrong because the SA doesn't know what they are doing and a SA that offers free or low ball signing rates is usually because they are inexperienced.

Don't give your work away because that is the reputation you will carry and be known for.

SatomiCO...

Thanks for clearing up my misunderstanding!! Yikes! I surely do not want a rep like that! Don't have it now - don't want it in the future!
Thanks! Bren
