What EXACTLY does SS do? - SSs please respond.

Earlier posted by Marlene - inquiring minds want to know. We heard from SAs and it was nice, however, really - let's hear how you see your job.

How about SSs who read this forum?

There are many and I know some of them....however, how about letting us hear from you. You read and learn plenty from us, so let us learn from you. Joshua Basil? Et al?

Marlene's message is below.

What EXACTLY does SS do?

Farther down the list, is a comment from someone that an NSA should not eat a trip fee because all the SS does is "forward you the docs" and the SS can better afford to lose a full fee for a cancellation than an NSA can.

I've read several similar comments about what an SS does.

Could some of the signing services that read this board give us an overview of what, exactly, you do to earn YOUR fee? We all know what an NSA does to earn his/her fee.

Thanks.

Cannot take the credit - Marlene asked first....I know

some posted about great ss experiences which were good stories. However, from a business perspective I'd like to hear from the SS owner/worker.

I know there are several good ss's like Negretes, Superior, Asap, SLB, et al which read this board.

Teddog - where is J B now ?

Re: Brenda TX - Teddog + revisiting the Fax Back Debacle

If we do not receive answers over the weekend, perhaps we should re-post one more time on Monday. Marlene's query was a good one.

There are great SSs who will pay well. I especially find those in CA to be generous.

However, there are some who seem not to have a notary on staff who has had more than a short stint of signings before becoming an SS. That's prohibitive to quality assurance.

Also, in the great Fax Back Debacle of the past week, it occurred to me that the owner of the ss who was so upset with me/the sa had not had enough experience in the Faxing Back arena to realize what she really was asking the NSA to do.

You have to either purchase a commercial load-bearing fax/scanner at $$$$$$ bucks, or you must watch your fax go through one by one.

You have to rip apart the package and put it back together.

They need to get realistic and I do not mean that sarcastically. It's just the way it is.

Speaking of babysitting the scanner/fax...I received a REV MORT package last week and printed it.

The title company's scanner was not working as good as it should have been and it did not scan in all the docs. They had stuck together. I called three times before they got all the docs to me. Talk about an edoc printing nightmare. It's my problem, I have trouble with putting them in order once I have to stop / start / etc. I am not blaming the edoc nightmare on the left out docs. Hence the fax back HATE.

Fortunately, I am so familiar with this lender's docs that I recognized right off that docs were wrong and/or missing. I see these in my sleep...so I knew these were wrong. However, another lender's would not jump out at me like that.

Will you? I said.

Will you repost? I meant.

I need to go back to my twelve step program to stop correcting myself.

fax back

Hi Brenda:

Like yourself I am very against the fax backs etc. What are your thoughts on a company that requests the following fax back? 1) a status confimation that is also used as the SA invoice to the SS and 2) the HUD1 or HUD1A. Do you think a charge should be included for sending these two pages (three if its a HUD1 instead of a HUD1A)?

I value your thoughts greatly on this board.

Thanks in advace.

Love ya sista =)~ heheheh

Re: fax back-No, I do not think this is something to charge

No, I do not think this is something to charge for. If the Hud ior a few pages is a necessary item, invest in a digital camera with a lens good enough to photo those docs. Do so, and then you can drop the doc on the way back to the office. A few pages can be photo'd at the drop or at the borrowers. I do it all the time. I have a Sony dsc-f717 which I usually use. However, this one is three years old. Take a legal size hud with you to shop for the camera. I have a smaller Sony which is newer ($100) on ebay and it will also do the trick. [dsc-p10]
