What a headache!
I had a signing last night. SS called me around 6:45 saying the docs should be in around 7:30. She also told me that the escrow docs wouldn't be ready and would be sent directly to bwr today. The docs started coming in around 7:45 and finished at 7:59. I printed and checked email again as I was walking out the door at 8:30. Signing went great. Got home checked my email again. Guess what I found? That's right, the escrow docs.
I called the SS and told them the story and emailed the TC. I said I would go back, but will charge a full fee because it was not my fault the docs didn't get signed the first time.
Let the comments begin!!!!

I agree with you 100%. Charge full fee.
I had a similar situation happen a few weeks ago. Appointment time with borrower was at 6:00 pm (1/2 hour drive to get there). Docs came in at 5:00 pm. I printed everything and ran out the door. Signing went smoothly. When I got back to my office there was fifteen pages on my fax machine that came in at 6:15 (fifteen minutes after the scheduled start time). They did not call or email to let me know there were additional docs coming.
I offered to return to get the additional docs signed but for full fee. They refused since none of these docs required a notary. They did however pay full fee for the docs that I did get signed.

Pandagirl I agree on the full fee. They didn't do what they said they were going to. That is no fault of yours. Charge full fee.
Jersey, did you ask in the initial call how the docs would be coming? I don't just ask if it's edocs. I ask for how many emails, fax's will be coming.

Ok, I was just a little unclear. Oh yeah I would charge full fee, my fee isn't just based on how many signatures I notarize. Time is money and if they don't want to pay then you have an open time slot for another signing. So let's just say the ask what you will be receiving is a tip for newbies.

Had something similar to this happen to me a couple months back. Completed signing, returned home, got in my pj's, checked my emails and bam, there were a bunch more docs to be printed and signed. I called the borrower, who was very sweet, but agitated, and I got back in my work attire, drove there (8 miles), got 'em signed, put 'em in the mail early the next morning.

How did you handle the fee?

Since it was the second time signing for this borrower I was already getting paid enough that I felt it would be fine to go back on my own dollar - wasn't really my dollar because I had charged enough for if "another" slip up happened. This SS is notorious for such things, so I charged accordingly.

I had a similiar thing happen. I had email docs that came in late (of course) I rushed over to the borrower house to have her sign a double power of attorney loan. It took 4 hours!! I thought everything went fine. The SS called me and told me that the TC wanted it signed in a different way. the way they wanted it sign was pretty much the same way. I had to go to the borrowers house AGAIN to have her sign both loans (this time it took half the time) I charged a full fee because it was no mistake of mine. They should have sent instructions on how they wanted the forms signed.
