What a night.......

I only had 2 signings tonight but left home at 5:30 and got home at 9:30. These signings were only within 5 miles of me. My 6PM signing called the lender as soon as he reviewed the HUD (the first thing I show them). Costs were way too high based on what lender told him. I got the lender on my cell phone and borrower and lender talked for 1 hour (only one bar left on my cell battery life). He agreed to sign but the lender was going to fax him a new est. of costs which he had to go to his work to retrieve from the fax. Ok, well I had a 7PM signing that I was going to be late for (3 miles away). I left, did my 7PM signing and returned at 8PM. Took 45 min to finally complete the signing. So, HOW MUCH extra should I charge for the returned trip????? BTW, it's a good mortgage co. that sends me lots of business.

MB - Sorry, I don't see why...

you would charge extra for anything. Some jobs take 15 minutes and some take 2hours, it's just the way our service works. If you look at the law of averages, it should work itself out. I certainly would not charge more for my time to a Mtg. Co. that calls on me regularly.

I guess it's the fact that he had to leave and go to his work to retrieve a fax from the lender and wouldn't be back for 1/2 hour. I guess if I was totally mobile I would have a fax in my vehicle...you're probably right.

Re: MB -

that could have been handled through the rescission period. That was between him and his broker. I probably would not have waited for a new HUD - mobile office or not.

I understand what you were saying now.

Re: MB -

Believe me...I always discuss the recission period with the borrowers. When I spoke with the lenders manager before I left the first time...he was using the fricking word re: the borrowers and I had to hold my cell phone closer to my ear so the borrowers would not hear him going off.
Well, tomorrows another day. I do love this job!

If I had to make an extra trip I would usually charge $50. That is a third of my signing fee. Now since you aren't that far and this is a good company to you, you might consider charging less, but you should recover some of the cost of gas and time. I have charged less before and even waived some fees for business reasons. (Only for those who give me a lot of business though.)
