$60 signing w/ $99 in notarizations

I agreed to do a closing which is close to home for $60 fedx dox... however when I received the package today, I discovered $99 worth of notarizations in the pkg. I called the SS but they refused to increase my fee to cover the notarizations and opted to get another notary to do this closing - I'm sorry, but I've been in this business too long and it is my FT job and I cannot work for free - this is the 2nd time this has happened w/ this same SS and this same mtg co. and I let the 1st time slide, but I can't do it again. So beware SWPa...phones are going to start ringing...

$60 is too low for an overnight package with only 1 notarizations. Yikes. How many were in the package? I don't know PA's fees.

Diana, Your post lends itself to my long held belief that we are doing a service, and a valuable one at that. What these SS companies offer is in no way indicative of the service we provide. I agree with you that a package with notarizations that far exceed the signing fee is plain ridiculous. Especially, given the fact that a signing agent is basically responsible for the package, seeing that it is signed correctly, RTC dates are correct, package is delivered for shipment, etc, etc. Just the other day, a couple came into my office with their loan package, all I had to do was notarize. Five signatures, 20 minutes and $50.00 later they were on their way with the package and I had nothing else to do with it. I wish more SA would keep this in mind and tell the SS to increase the fees or pack it in.

Hum... what about another way to look at it

Here's my thought: Some of us never really know what's on the "other end"... could be the easiest money you every made (single signer, signs like lightening and you're outta there in 10-15 mins flat), or, it could be the hardest money you ever made (reader). Just looking at the package (edocs for example or overnight) doesn't tell all.

My fees are high -- that way if it's a stinker, oh well. I don't charge by the notarization -- a package could have one (like a World Savings) or 22 (TCT). My mind-set is that it all comes out in the wash. With higher fees you may hear, "no", but so what? You'll hear, "Yes" more -- working Smarter, not harder. When i get my big checks from those crummy signings, I seem to forget all about the pain.

Kelly,
I noticed that you like to come here and offer advice all the time and I think you are a premeire member?
Curious to know why you plug all lot of sites on your (links) site but not NotaryRotary?

I'm Rolling my eyes Charm and Getting a Good Laugh - thanks

And, thank you for your interest in my site! Your question has nothing to do with the original post but I'll answer you since you seem to have a problem with me (have we ever met?) I have nothing to hide and here's your answer truthfully: How I run my business, just like how you run yours, it is none of your business. If Harry has the time and cares (I doubt he does - I'm small potatoes) he can email me personally unless of course, you are really Tracy or his marketing director. I'm sure you've seen that he has a relationship with NotaryClasses.com? But do you see LoanSigner101.com anywhere? Uh... no.

And since you asked another personal question which has nothing to do with the original post and is none of you biz either, what the heck: Yes, Charm, I am a Premier member!, and have always have been, perhaps longer than you. I'm not sure, but then again, it's really none of my biz and why the heck would I care? Uh... I don't.

I spend a TON on advertising and I am a paying member on a lot of sites that are not listed on my site. Hey! Would you care for a list? I have a great resouce on my site (I'm sure you saw it) and I'd be happy to email it you.

Here's some more info on me since you are so curious about my personal business - why not? Let's just get it over with: My photo on my profile is really me! But I admit, a little make-up sure made a difference --ask several who visit this site who have actually met me - they can tell you that I don't look that good. Oh, and my birthday is in June, I always post with my real name and link, I have 4 kids -- three grown and one surprise girl, I never said a word about your photo on your profile (although I think it's adorable - is that okay with you?), I have a Graduate Degree but am definitely not the sharpest knife in the drawer, I have a great husband who works his butt off and is the smart one in the family, we are both retired USAF (I met him in a bar in Yakota, Japan while active duty in 1989 - he was so cute!), I live on 3 acres in a rural part of Riverside County, I assist in a great mentor group/networking group that we have out here, I admire many people including Madonna (one smart lady), I love to line-dance but like Green Day too, my daughter Maddison Quinn is a child-actress and has appeared in film (I have a close relative in "the business"Wink, my brother Michael is a West Point Graduate (go Army!), my mother is alive but my father has passed away, I believe in GOD and angels and I was raised very metaphysically, I am enjoying all the great things I'm doing in my new business (can't believe no one else has done it yet!), I love to read, I am also a published author, hate the problem I have with keeping my weight down, love to cook but am crummy at it, I feel that we should all do what is "right" (Service to others), I believe we reap what we sow, and have been in this business so long that the term, Signing Agent, wasn't even invented yet. It's clear that I am honest (not something I am ashamed of) and it's clear that I like to think positively and since I have been blessed with continued success, I am confident that positive affirmations and faith absolutely works, and will work for anyone who is sincere in their comittment. I am also not afraid to speak my mind and must say that I get wonderful emails every day from others who read this board, telling me that they are afraid to speak/post , worried about being the recipient of bashing. I just tell them not to post and ignore the poopie heads, like... Of course, my feelings are not hurt because I continue to speak my truth at the risk of disagreement - so what!?! My ego is in check -- I never, ever forget where I came from: $50 signings, mistakes, dumb questions, going back in the early days for signatures I missed, fax-backs, hand-holding ss's, ... all of it, just like any newbie then and now.

Until your post, I really had no opinion of you. I certainly have better things to do and worry about but I guess you felt some sort of "need" to be defensive and stick up for GOD knows who (Harry?) and ask me Why I didn't have Not Rot on my Site!!! What a laugh.

I'm looking back up at your post where you said, "I noticed that you like to come here and offer advice all the time... " -- and I got a good chuckle out of it -- as if you don't?! Let's do a "search" and put "Charm" and see what pops up. Not - who cares.

How about if we just end YOUR little problem with me right here and now (I'm just saying what others are thinking!) : Mind your own business and worry about your world and not mine, not Harry's, not NotRot, not others. Since it is true, what comes around goes around, I'm going to end my thoughts about this feeling compassion for you and your sad thoughts about me. Go give your beautiful boy a hug and get one back: You'll feel better!

wow, thanks for your entire history...lol
I don't have a problem with you at all. Other than you can be a bit long winded when patting yourself on the back but like I said, I was just curious about your links, it's a public website. so forgive me for asking you about something that's none of my business. No reason to get your feathers ruffled and post a book.

Well said, Kelly. Advice is why most of us are here..

and I agree with you that there are many who don't approve of the constant bashing yet don't speak up. In the time it takes them to insult people, I will be sending out three more introduction letter's to Lender's. But, the Creator made us all different obviously. It's a very ignorant person who think's they know everything. I check in here everyday and find at least one piece of valuable information. I appreciate all of those who take the time to say something meaningful, worthwhile or kind. For me, it's easy to ignore the negative elements of NR. I simply consider the source. Thanks for telling all of us a little about yourself. It's great to make new contacts.

A little about me? Sure! I live in the Orlando area. I have a teenage son who is a good student and who's never caused me a moment's trouble (Lucky Me!), I'm a native Floridian ( a very rare breed), I have an insurance license I don't use, I've been a notary since the 80's, I work as a Manager every 10 years when the Census roll's around, I have a college degree, I change my hair color regularly (for those of you who have seen my pic; I'm no longer a redhead), I love Dogs, I don't give out my birthdate because of identity theft and I believe that if the SS stiff's you for the signing fee you have the right to call the Title company and the BORROWER.

Did I write a book? Well, it's Friday night. My son's at the movies and I'm waiting to play chauffeur. Did I spell that right? JMHO, of course.

I checked out the website to see what was all of the ruckus about. I saw just about the same everything on every other SA's website. Why be so "canned." Can't anyone use something other than "stock footage?" Maybe it's because I live with a design engineer/artist, but I like origianality. I think your business advertising should reflect you not some basic clip art collection. Sorry if this comes across cold and insulting. Not meant to be. It's just a comment of personal taste.

Re: I'm Rolling my eyes Charm and Getting a Good laugh-Kelly

Kelly, you surprised me with this post, by taking such offense.

First, you're obviously a business woman, opportunistic, and striking while the iron is hot, so-to-speak in the world of new notaries/signing agents. As such, that one comment from Charm lit you up like a Christmas Tree - not normally the response I see from business true business people.

You have a great website, it's interactive, personal and well-done. I'd argue about your contribution to the industry as someone who's training new SA's and new notaries to be SA's, as you're just like the NNA you are in that regard. Still, entrepreneuralism is generally rewarded in this county, regardless of the need, or contribution to your peers. Further you're an attractive person, which is also rewarded, with the right business image, and I think your photo is fabulous.

I think it was nice that you told us all about *you* and it gave you a moment to boast and list your credentials...up to and including your daughter being a child-actress. That's okay too, I like to boast about my children as well...now that they are adults. I hope you are a higher caliber of a stage mother than those who have preceeded you - those that we read about in the papers and all, and the detrimental effect that children in show business suffer, I mean...we've read all about them, see them on TV, etc.

But, here's what bothers me most about the missal you wrote:

***Let's do a "search" and put "Charm" and see what pops up. Not - who cares***

To answer, I care.

I care that Charm is always helpful. I enjoy her posts, whether OT or helping someone new. Without, I might add, being compensated...or someone wandering to her opportunistic website, regardless of how well done).

I care that by her frequent and helpful posts, she's giving something back to her peers, and friends.

Most of all? I care a lot that she's a nice person, and if I lived closer to her, she'd be a friend of mine. And, here's the bottom line Kelly, I really hate it when someone attacks my friends, as you did.

So in closing my own little missal, I admire you for your business concepts, and what you appear to have built, but in regard to your attack of Cheryl...shut the hell up, Kelly.

Wow TitleGal, you've really got Kelly's line of BS down to a science. A bunch of artificial, folksy blathering to distract from the true point of the post, which is the ultra-btichy commentary.

But you missed one crucial part - the additional "go hug your children" line of crap after the snotty remarks. That would be the steam rising off of the pile of crap, so to speak.

I have to say I like your version better and I'll second what you said. Shut the hell up, Kelly.

Hey, what do you know, Charm is saying what others are thinking about you as well. The difference is, some of the others who are thinking the same thing are also saying it on the board. But I'm sure you have the secret emails to back up your claims sweetie. It's just such a shame that they're not willing to support you on the board.

Now go get a hug from your sweet child actress daughter. Since she's not actually showing up on IMDB anywhere, I'd wager that the "actress" part of her description doesn't take up a whole lot of her time and she has nothing better to do these days than to hug her mommy.

Kiss kiss.

bad rationale. However, with the over saturation of notaries, all these SS do is shop until they come up with someone hungry enough to take these lowball jobs. All in all I would rather not waste gas, time and effort for the lowballers.
