signing agent fees
Hello, I am a new signing agent. I would like to hear about the current fees to charge. What would I charge for in-town, edocs, and what is the rate I should charge for traveling more than 30 miles to a signing? Also, what about nations direct, $40? Should I not accept it? Thanks, I appreciate your advice. I am in CA.

Well my fees are $65 in town, an additional $25 for edocs, and for signings above 30 miles, I'm not sure. I don't do to many signings that far away. My fees seem like they are a bit low compared to a lot of people on this board. I hope to move them up in the future. For now I only deal with SS's, and they don't budge on fees to much here in CA, as there are millions of notaries here.
As for the $40 signing. Since you said you are knew, I would advise you to accept it. It will give you experience. Once you get more confident as a SA, you will feel more confident about asking for more money. You have to start somewhere. Just don't accept to many at that price. SS's need to realize that $40 isn't enough money for all that is involved in doing a Loan Signing.

IMHO, dont accept such a low fee. Id start your fee at $75 and work from there. A mistake is the same no matter if it's a $40 fee or a $75 fee, you decide what you would rather have. Milage for me is .75/mile after the first 50 total miles. Dont forget Edoc fee, Fax back Fee, Cancellation and sign refusal fee, to name a few you should research or talk to a local CSA in your area.
