The NNA is out to make money so, yes you join the NNA then
you join the signing agent section and then you can also join the enotarization section, small business section, immigration section, etc. You can join as many sections as you want to pay for. If you pay to go to the NNA conference in Washington, DC they will sell you all these on the spot in addition to selling you their NSA certification, enjoa computerized journal system and a truck load of other "essential notary supplies". Oh, and if you run out of money you can apply for the NNA Visa credit card. Did I mention the NNA is out to make money FOR THEMSELVES not you.

I think you can get listed in the registry without joining the NNA, but it will cost you a lot more without the memebership.
In my opinion that website doesn't do much good. I think that the NNA isn't worth their weight in manure... and I think more and more people are joining in on this idea everyday.
I don't even bother with them and suggest that you do the same. JMO.

funny I've had companies calling me saying that I should register on this site. I do get most of my business from here and 123.

This site and 123 both worth the $. I think NNA does more to hurt this business (Signing Agent) than help...But I'm also a member there. Live and learn.

Please tell me that you came to the conclusion that the NNA is hurting this business AFTER you already had purchased your membership, and that you have no plans to renew.
It makes me crazy when people throw their principles right out the window if there's an opportunity for financial gain. I don't care how much business the NNA might bring me, there's no way in hell they'll ever see a penny from me because I think they're despicable.

That's it! Self-preservation out the window. You are so worried about slamming the notaries who accept low fees which supposedly hurts your business. I'm not sure with a comment like 'I don't care how much business the NNA might bring me, there's no way in hell they'll ever see a penny from me'. Seems to be you might not need any help hurting your business.

Re: The NNA is out to make money so, yes you join the NNA th
So far this month I've made about $4400 without any help from the NNA. There are PLENTY of ways to get business that don't involve them.
Self preservation is looking at the bigger picture and how things will be in 1, 2 or 5 years. Specifically, if this will even be a viable way to make a living then. It's not about getting the occasional $75 or $100 job.

Mary, many preople do not like the NNA, however many SS's and TC's go there to look for SA's. I've been contacted from several comapnies that found me there. I get the most calls from here, signing agent and 123

Unfortunately, yes you need to join the NNA to join the NSA and then you can buy the Certification Test. It seems like a lot but they are what put me on the map. 99% of my business comes from companies who say, 'I found you on SigningAgent.com'.

I had been working for one TC that trained me for over a year without knowing what I was doing was a real job and that there were other places to get work.
I got one of the NNA's emails and that is how I figured out what my job was called. I signed up for the membership, the signing agent.com and the class. I get some work from it (it has paid for itself & then some), but I get most of my calls from here.
I haven't decided whether or not to sign up again, though.
