Re: want to join us and chat?

Looks like you've got to be a premier member to talk live. Not the meager basic members like Jacob_CA who is still evaluating the site 3 days after joining.

Did ya'll ever stop and think.......

......that maybe, just maybe the owner of this board, provided the true chat room for all of your off topic stuff? Under Rules & Guidelines II. Netiquette says to keep off topic material to a minimum. All the relevant information runs off the page so quickly with your good mornings and birthday stuff that I don't even want to be a premier member if I'm paying for such off topic things. Can't you all email your greetings?

So we're assured we won't be seeing you in the Chat room?

Julie..you're right but OT can be good for morale...

if it's not abused and if it's kept to a minimum, as you said. NR's Rules and Guidelines also state:
"Because the forum is only lightly moderated, we ask that all users govern themselves in accordance with common standards of decency and professionalism. We are not responsible for the opinions of others nor do we condone or support unfounded accusations, personal attacks or other generally bad behavior.

"Please keep off-topic posts to a minimum."

"Do not personally attack, insult or degrade other users or companies. If you are going to bash a company's reputation, be prepared to provide concrete and substantial proof of your allegation. If you are going to confront another user or dispute a post, do so on a rational and constructive basis with the facts in hand. Debate is always healthy."

End Quote...seem's to me Harry has already made the rules, for those of you who will now do two pages about the forum "police". I assume he think's you are mature enough to know what "common standards of decency and professionalism" and " Do not personally attack, insult or degrade other users or companies" mean.

Re: Did ya'll ever stop and think....... Julie,

the reason I have a premiere membership is for notary placement order - where I appear to SSs and TCs, etc. Having the message board is my get-away, much like the office water cooler.

Re: Did ya'll ever stop and think.......

Your message seems to be off-topic. What does that have to do with notary work? If you don't like the greetings, or off-topic posts, then by all means don't read them. I think 85% of the OT's are very informative. I learn a lot.

No disrespect.

None of you answered my question.........

Harry has had this board for a long long time. For a long long time the best of the best in this industry have been involved in message boards. In fact, it's the folks like Sylvia, Janet Lynch, Maureen/NH DonR, Kathy P., Sue K.that have paved the way and set standard to to earn living and keep integrity in what we do. For a long long time, there have been battles and pettiness. Overall, the boards are a good tool to gather information on new companies and poor performing companies.

But no where did this off topic stuff play in, maybe a few prayer requests along the way, which always ruffled some feathers, but I think it is an insult to Harry and his board to keep this non-information going. I don't even know why I even bother in this dialogue, but I AM really bugged.

As I said, if I'm printing edocs, I read the board and the Detroit News on-line. On this board, the threads go to the next page quickly and I find it difficult to remember where I was. On occasion, there is information I wanted to remember, but what's for dinner, birthdays and other long irrelevant stuff is there, and I simply do not have the time to backtrack.

It's always a few, and I have received emails from other veterans that are just as bugged as I am, but are not going to bother posting on this forum.

So I'll put my money where my mouth is: Here is my email, so if you have any commentary on my post we will not take up Harry's valuable space. Here it is: [e-mail address]

Re: None of you answered my question.........Julie

If you will check out all of the topics and posts for today, you'll see that business for outweighs pleasure. That said, I find nothing more irritating than someone who has a problem with others enjoying the company of their peers.
