If you are performing a notarial act in CA, then you need to follow CA statutes in your notary performance. It doesn't make any difference what an OH or PA, or FL, ack looks like, you need to complete the ack in accordance with your laws. Of course, CA has this slight nuance that allows you to use an "out-of-state" acknowledgment as long as it doesn't violate CA statutes, such as the certification of capacity, but each state will accept the certificates that are done in accordance with the statutes of the state in which the act was performed.
Since I'm not a CA notary, I'm sure someone can provide specific guidance on how to implement the use of an out-of-state certificate.

Paul's Right On Della
Della - as long as the notarial verbiage does not ask you to notarize someone's capacity, you're okay. When in doubt - leave it out and just atch a CA All-Purpose Ack. You don't need to know all 50 state's Ack wording.
I might add that on a personal note, if it's a deed./mortgage that is recording in another state, as long as that verbiage does not violate CA law (such as capacity), then I usually try to use that other state's notary docs. I ASSume it makes it much easier for that state's recorder to do their job and doesn't cause any delays for the borrower. However, I have no proof that's the case.

Thank You Paul and Kelly I was trying to take a short cut and use the notarial wording in the docs. But I do think I need to use the Ca. wording this time. Thanks again

I concur with everyone else, if you are signing in CA? why would you need the Ohio wording?

To save time attaching Ca. loose acks. it was a large package with a lot of acks and jurats. If I new the wording was correct for Ohio where it would be recorded I would not have extra work to do that was the reason for the question.
