2 forms of Government issued picture ID

Did a closing for a company on Friday, they required 2 forms of government issued picture id. I don't even have that. Most people don't even have a second form of governement id. The TC did not answer the phone even though it was still business hours in Washington. I accepted their DL's for my notary, wife had a voter reg card, husband had nothing but credit and his insurance card. I accepted his insurance card, photographed all the id.

What do you do in cases such as these?

I've never seen this requirement but I have seen many that ask for 2 forms of "acceptable" ID, one of which must be gov/pic.
Could this have been a typo on their form?
If not, and you read it correctly, then I would have done just exactly as you did.

and not everyone wil have two types of id's either. So we have to learn to comprise and work with what they do have,as long as it matches their name, address, dob, etc.... So what do you really do ??? Not everyone will have two id's (picture). And if title companies don't understand that, then they will have to accept that most likely even they don't have two picture (govet) id's!!

ok..its still early!

LOL

I was shocked at that request. Their form said it was a requirment of the patriot act. The patriot act only requires one form of government issued photo id.

This company has a 3 page confirmation, with everything in fine print. It seems it is standard, along with black ink, which was in even finer print. (I don't wear glasses, and I had a heck of a time reading these forms). It was the first time I have worked for this company, and depending on the outcome of this closing, I may not work for them again. They had at least 5 pieces of paper throughtout the package threatening to deduct $25 from your fee for this and that, one of them was for not signing as the "settlement agent" on several forms. The id cert form is the only place I signed where it said settlement agent, and I crossed that out and filled in notary signing agent. I am NOT the settlement agent, and will not take on that liability.

I know exactly who you are speaking of. I did one for them BWR was a LO and she was shocked at the two forms of gov't issued ID. CI said one must be photo...so of course we did DL and SS. I did not care for their $25 deduct threats either.

Yes,please who were they?

I have had to accept everything from utility bills, fishing and hunting licenses, the usual med. and ins. IDs,SScards and birth Certs.(which I couldn't use). I black out numbers on credit and debit card except for last 4 numbers and love Sam's club cards because of the pics.Every closing has its own unique flavor.
