I found 2 sex offenders both are around the block from my house. My daughter is 4 and my husband work nights. So this really bothers me, plus there is a school in the neighborhood also.

Only 61 within 3 miles... EEK!

I knew there were a lot. As a matter of fact, one right next door and my daughter is 8. 3 months ago there were 63 so some drop off after a period of time which is even scarier.

Makes a parent shake with fear when you see how close they are and how many.

I've researched them regularly for a long time and I show my daughter the photos as well just so she understands how innocent these people look and how deceiving looks are.

The only safety is when they are within your view at all times. I don't even let my daughter out the front door without me beside her. She has to stay beside me when we shop too which she hates. I try not to be overprotective, but at the same time, our children are vulnerable and who knows how they would react in that situation so better to avert the possibility altogether.

Where we moved from 201, where we are moving 12 (more like 17 there were 5 unmappable). I was talking with the sherrif once and he said that you could go in to the PD and request a sweep where they will go through the neighborhood and check houses with offenders. These maps are important but they are sadly out of date many times.

I let do not let my daughter outside without me, I've seen both of the offenders drive past my house, I try to explain to her about strangers and people touching where they aren't suppose to. I agree I don't want to be overprotective but my daughter's safety comes first.

What really got me was when I did the city wide search there were 3 guys that I knew personally and 1 relative that were listed. It's sad but I try to do a search every other month and I will go the police station and get an updated list with their photos.
