Fax Back Record

Just finished faxing back a set of documents. Decided to put a stop watch on it.

36 pages -- 22 minutes, 48 seconds. New high for me.

What's YOUR fax back record?

Sure hoped you charged them $1 a page buddy! If not that's nothing to brag about.

Don't misunderstand. It wasn't intended to be a boast. It's just that I have never faxed back that many documents before. And I wanted to see how long it would actually take. It wasn't to check my work. It was an investment property and the title company needed to see the documents in order to fund the loan. They provided a toll free number.

I'm upfront, I simply say when I get the order I do no faxbacks....END OF STORY.

JR_AZ = You just say "no." And, you mean it. Then you tell them for a price you will - $25.00 for faxing back.

You need to charge for time in returning to your office, faxing, returning.

That's a minimum of 1.5 ours. I do not give it to them for free.

Re: Fax Back Record - do you keep in order?

I've only had two loans that required more than the HUD or DOT page faxed back. Both times it was a major PITA to get the docs back in order. When you did the 36 pages did you put them back in the package in the same order they came or do you just keep those pages on top when you return the docs?

Re: Fax Back Record - do you keep in order?

There is no "MUST" order for docs. Every escrow officer/re paralegal/attorney puts the docs in the order they like to sign in, as do I. That list of stacking order you see in some packages, are usually for the lenders post closing dept. Auditors require documents in files in banks, mortgage companies and title companies to be in a certain order. I let borrowers look at the hud while I fill in the id certs, then Note, payment coupon, anything to do with the escrows/impounds, TIL, DT, anything that needs to be notarized, junk docs, RTC, 1003. They go back in that order with the hud on top. I've never recieved a complaint.

When you put the docs in the same order each time, it makes fax backs very easy.

I have a system that works well for me. I use sticky notes as bookmarks. I write a brief note telling what the document is that goes in front (i.e. TIL, DOT, ...). As the docs are coming out of the fax, I put them back in the stack. By the time the last doc comes out of the fax, the whole package is back in order.

Re: Fax Back Record - Beat this

3' 27" for 22 pages last month. I got in late and went straight to bed on EOM as I have an early appt the next day. I shoved 22 pages into the fax machine at 8:40am and left for a signing & errants. Came back at noon and the fax machine still read sending page 18/22.

Re: What brand do you have? Why so long to fax?

I have done fax backs (although I do not enjoy them, nor prefer them, but if the fee is right I will do them) I have an "intelliFAX-2820" it is a laserjet machine and can do 20 + pages in under 3 minutes. Also, if I receive a "last minute" faxed HUD I don't have to worry about it being printed properly because with this machine it is as if I used my HP printer on it.
