I botched one. Every dog has their day...
Ah yes, we all fall when we get too confident.
I botched one. Had a signing on Friday - copies were del'd to bwr, originals to me. Except they went to my old address. My fault because I did not think to update the SS of my new address.
Fedex did not notify me of where the package was until after the signing, but I had called the SS. Had to go pick it up at office or wait until Monday. I opted for picking it up on Sat.
Long story short, I was so ruffled due to a couple of things during it all I did not get the HUD1 signed by wife and now I have to go back. I offer to do it for free when I do not do it perfectly the first time.
Put a note in for TC, updated SS...we'll get it fixed today in time for RTC - I will also send in the botch at my expense.
Now...I could whine about it, but it happens. People if you make a mistake, do not lie to the SS, do not lie to the TC. Just get it fixed and take responsibility.

Glad you got everything straighten out. I had a signing Friday called borrowers to get the correct directions to property and the Mr stated he called the LO and cancelled that morning. Wish I would have known this before I set out on the drive.

Happened to me too. Don't you hate that!!!!
Had a signing for a company that I do 3-4 closings a week for. Wife was signing dowers as vested owner. Her name wasn't on the HUD. Had the husband sign only. Got home and during QC I see the wife's name directly below the husbands typed through some preprinted language on the HUD.
This title company's HUD has 4 signature lines. On every HUD I've had signed for them, one borrower was on top left and one was on top right. On this particular HUD, they placed the wife directly below the Husbands signature on the bottom left.
You do this long enough where you know the paperwork like the back of your hand and then they go and CHANGE IT! ARGHHHH!!!! I've come to the conclusion that the only thing that doesn't change is the fact that they keep changing stuff and when I start to get too comfortable, I need to be more vigilant.
Thirty-five miles each way to get this fixed. OUCH!

Re: Happened to me too. Don't you hate that!!!!
Joan - you are a peach - thank you for telling me that.
Because of the personal situation I was in I did not catch this until last QC and dropping. Went on and dropped knowing that it was better in this case to get what I had off to them, bite the bullet and get the info in to them today.
Also, they changed some of their docs to include certs in crazy places, but I caught those as well...I hope. Being flustered is not an excuse as we should expect to be flustered in each signing we do - expect the worst - however, that's what it was. I was kind of flustered.

I made a blunder on my records perhaps a month or so ago, a small clip loan, less then 20 pages. It was the two great guys I so enjoyed chatting with. I asked for ID right away, filled the client's address, X where he needs to sign, thumbprint, get on with signing, leave, drive home, get home and realize I entered not one bit of information from his ID into my journal. How dumb is that? The documents required no ID info as I mentioned it was a clip loan. But I have a huge blank section where ID info should have gone, it has bothered me since....OH WELLLL, AGAIN DUMB ME......

Me too...
Friday was sooo busy and by my last signing, I was spent. I missed the borrowers siggy on the closing instructions. Thank goodness he works about two miles from me, but I too will be using my UPS account to ship back the trailing doc. Ugh.

Well can you believe I had the nerve!
I got an email and phone call this AM from XYZ title company regarding a signing that occurred last Thurdsay at 4 PM EDT. Where are the docs! They should've been here by Friday! You must ship same day! The lender expects it, and so do we! No exceptions ETC, ETC. ETC. Well, the signing was 4PM, it concluded at around 5PM, and the last p/u for Fed Ex is 4/4:30, so it had to go out Friday, I never heard anything from them on Friday, the day they say they were expecting it. No more jobs for you, bimbo! You screwed this up royally! Well, they are really pissed! I can't believe it. I did my best to apologize for the inconvenience, and explain the situation, but to no avail. Can anyone offer a better solution or way of handling it when they get you under the gun that way?

Tact
The only thing you can do is maintain your composure and give them the facts as tactfully as possible. I have the same problem every now and then since our last pickup time is also 4PM with no Saturday pickup available. Usually, when I accept the signing (on the phone) with the company, I inform them that docs will not be delivered until Monday for Thursday signings and delivery on Tuesday for Friday signings. Of course, they also have the option of an additional fee to drop docs at a location that has Saturday pickup, but there's nothing you can do about pickup times.

Tactfully yours,
I was very tactful and kept my composure. This particular assignment was ordered by a SS, with whom I'd already advised of our pick-up times, but apparently they did not advise title. Fortunately, there was no screaming match, and I hung up with a clear conscience, no regrets, and no bridges burned. I also notified the SS by copying and sending the emails to cover my derriere. I appreciate your input, and I guess I handled it appropriately.

Re: Tactfully yours: suggestion
If any of you happen to be close to a college campus, there is usually a Kinko's that will keep late and Sat hours to accomodate the students. I often drive the extra 6 miles on a Fri nite or Sat morning to get a pkg out for the convenience of my customer. Kinko's has an affiliation with FedEx and their last p.u. is at 4pm on Sat.(at least in my neck of the woods)

Re: Tactfully yours: suggestion
I wouldn't mind driving 5 or 6 miles for a Saturday pickup, but the nearest Kinkos/FedEx or UPS Store that has Saturday pickup is 24 miles away, on 2-lane busy roads.
Saturday pickups are just not in the cards in rural America.

PAW: I know what you mean. We were down to Lady Lake in March, and I never knew what rural FL was like. Zepherhills looks much the same.

Re: Tactfully yours,
If there is a problem with shipping that day, I tell them up front before the closing and suggest other possiblities of shipping. Then I make sure I get it in writing that a particular form of shipping will be okay.
I do not want to delay a closing for the individual.
It does sound to me that you were in the middle and nothing for you to do but be professional. So, no worries.
It is their loss.

I do wonder why she didn't call on Friday, when the package did not materialize per her expectations.
