Inspection Talk...SSs could learn from this.

I did an inspeciton last year on a storage facility where they hid the water damage well.

Got the same job this year. It took lots to report properly. I was ready to throw in the towel...I fussed at the company...I told them this is a pita...I was grumpy...but I did a bang up job in my report. Just as I was about to tell them to never contact me again I got a note:

Dear Brenda,

Thank you for such a wonderful job on such a difficult inspection. Your captions and narrative were wonderful. You have been given an extra $20 on this one. Again, thank you.

XXXXXX

Now...I just got all warm and fuzzy over that little note and an extra $20 which did not even cover the time I had into it. I will continue to work for them. Actually, I know they have no other person who will take this $55 job and see the climbing and walking as I do - fitness time.

It's hard work for not enough pay if you really do the job right.

However, $20 bucks extra that I did not ask for, plus a nice note was the bomb that day. I have four more inspections that I will do and do better than before.

That's the difference between a low paying job where I feel appreciated and a low paying job where I am yelled at. With inspections you have more flexibility.

A word to the wise...appreciate your people. Let them know it. Do not act like you are entitled to the moon, stars and the heavens.

Not a new word ...

Sorry, but "Bull Pucky" has been around for a very long time. It is actually a 1957 Chevy Bel Air H/T, built in the '70's and featured in "More American Graffiti". The car was build by Rolland Sills in Redding, CA. It ran in Modified Production on the quarter mile and was often shown at car shows. The car was ultimately sold and appeared in the movies again, this time in "Graffiti 2" and hasn't been seen since, that I am aware of.

The car's name was "Bull Pucky". Black lacquer and lots of chrome. 4-point roll bar, 57 Oldsmobile rear-end, small block V-8.

I believe the current owner is (or was) Craig Sills, in Redding.

Re: I'm not playing Trival Pursuit with this bad boy!

Oh, one of my all time favorite games. That and Monopoly. But after playing it with some friends a few times, they never want to play with me again. Frown (As long as I don't have to remember names, I do okay.)
