Judgement

Does anyone know anything about judgements. I have been asked if I could do a Judgement and I have never done one and have not found anything online/pertaining to it.

A judgment may have many different connotations. What type of judgment is it? There are court ordered judgments etc. Judgments are usually the result of a court decision. Please give me more information.

There is no information at this time. I was just asked if I did them. I never have and don't know what it would entail

Are you an attorney? Be careful, Judgments are usually done by an attorney or the court clerk (at least here in Michigan).

Ya that's what is puzzling me. I wonder if this is not a judgment but rather a mechanic's lien or something where someone is filing a petition.
Someone could independent of an attorney file a petition. Then this would be recorded. A date would be set for court. It does not become a judgment until a judge makes it so.
A mechanic's lien can be initiated and recorded but until further action is taken this does not go before a judge for the possibility of a judgment.

I used to supply a publication to financial institutions in which I pulled all this sort of information from the courthouse.

None of the above is to be construed as legal advice. I am not an attorney.

Lulu - the internet is one of my favorite toys. I shall always be indebted to Al Gore for inventing it.

However, I hate that some of my jobs heretofore performed are now publically accessible so that I am no longer a necessary commodity!

Yes with the construction business I had turned this over to my assistant to type. There were certain aspects that I still had to go pull manually. When we stopped getting some of it by fax and chose to pull it off the internet, my assistant couldn't seem to toggle and type in an efficient enough manner and I wasn't going back to paying for copies of mortgages, satisfactions etc when it was there for free. Funny how many companies either don't want to take the time to browse it online and would prefer me to give it to them on a silver platter. I finally had to let something go and it was not that profitable for the headache. Being in a smaller city, I did enjoy reading about everyone. Smile

Just my opinion

But when someone attempts to hire me for something that I am not clear on, I ask the hiring party what the assignment entails. That way it is clear to me what is expected.
If I am not sure I can accommodate for whatever reason (like, not allowed by my state), I advise them I will call them back with a quote, and do my research and due diligence.
At one point in my early career, I was asked to sign and record a notice of commemcement.
At that point, I had no idea what it was, or if I could do it. I asked what the job entailed, and it was explained to me. I looked it up on the internet, and contacted the county recorder's office who advised me that ANYONE could file a notice of commmencement. I got the job.
A different time, I was asked to accept an assignment to serve court papers. I found out I could not do that legally within the realm of my position of notary public.signing agent.

When I hear the word Judgement, I think of process serving. I love doing them.
