Low fees

I got a call today whereas I was asked to do a signing tomorrow (Saturday) for a 1st and 2nd for $90.00 when I reiterated my fee he stated that he could pay one hundred. The package consisted of over 200 sheets, prep time, materials used to process the package and travel alone consume that, not to mention GAS PRICES are no joke.

Now I am new but basic math says you can't make money wasting time or materials.

I agree, I have raised my fees significantly due to my not being a newby anymore -and- gas here is $3.09, last check. As EOM approaches, I generally say a fee that is a little higher than normal, but only because I know it will be paid and that I might sacrifice a signing due to lack of time/slow docs/pesky BO's/traffic, and need to be adequately compensated. Don't waste your time on low-ballers, there are plenty out there who will pay top dollar for your services, once you prove yourself. Go get 'em!

$90???!! that is a joke and more less an insult to you as a notary. I hope you didn't take it unless you were desperate? Just remember, if you accepted it, they are going to think you will always have that fee for that type of documents.

If you have a set reasonable fees for your work-STICK TO IT!!! Be firm with your fees!!! After all, they don't have to pay your rent or mortgage (or even car payment!)
