Low fees - positive attitude
Last week I had a well known SS that has called me several times in the past tell me (once again) they could not meet my fees. I (in a positive tone) informed her that it was me driving the 30+ miles round trip to complete the assignment for them and that gas prices in California were still going up, yet my fees were the same as when they called me the first time last year.
Slight pause, and I got the assignment..... Not sure what made her change her mind but hey, I got the job..... Yes I did charge for the mileage!
Hang in there, like Patrick said in Road House, it will get worst before it gets better!

Re: Low fees - positive attitude-I got a call myself last
week from a ss, they offered a fee and I decided to ask, could we increase that fee due to gas prices.....BAM...to quote Emeril.....she increased by 25 no problem....yes a positive approach can go a long way.....

Re: Low fees - positive attitude-I got a call myself -agree
I agree with that 100%.
I do get surly after a few smart or downright mean things are said to me. Sometimes they just won't let you off the phone. The worst ones will pretend you are one of their sidekick players when they want to play "Dialing for Doodlehead Notaries." (It's a Hasbro toy.)

hmmmm..then I must be related to Uncle Murphy (murphy's law)...cuz when i nicely bring up the issue of the gas prices,etc...all I get is, "let me get this approve" and then I never hear from them again. (sigh) I really need to get a restraining order on Uncle Murphy!

Gas prices bugged Monica of AMR (and I respect the lady) so much that I shut my gas protestestations down...and she does not even do business in Texas.
I just say "That's my fee."
As a I heard a lovely friend say today, "I understand you can only approve $xxx.xx but our prices have nothing to do with that. You should call someone else."
