Maiden Name vs. Married Name
I will try to keep this simple. Maiden Name is on Mortgage. Has been married 4 years. Title never changed. Called SS and they said thats ok have her sign maiden name and have a witness sign. I am in Indiana and we are not a witness state. What would you do?

ID has to match however borrower is signing. Is her ID in her maiden name or her married name?

This came off the Indiana SOS site. In the event a notary public does not know the person presenting the instruments for notarization, the notary should do the following: 1. Ask the person for Identification (Drivers License), or 2. Have another person identify the party requesting notarization. 3. If nethier option is available or satisfactory, the notary may ask the person to take an oath as to his/her identity. 4. If these attempts at identification are unsuccessful, the notary may refuse service for his/her own protection.
