Michigan Notaries -
Would you be kind enough to post or email me on how your meetings work?
I know Calif. Notaries do this as well, but I feel the Michigan notaries have a more Texas like situation than Calif.
How'd it get started...that kind of thing.

And, Ms. Brenda, what exactly do you mean by that? Is that a Texas/Michigan comment on the quality/warmth of a Calif. notary meeting?
Or, do you suspect that the Hollywood influence on Calif. notaries doesn't measure up to the other two big states?
I for one admire the mercedes in the parking lots of Calif notary meetings. The tinted windows give me a reason to perservere. The CA notaries have these St. John business suits on. They look so cool and those croco briefcases are to die for. These same CA notaries claim they do marketing. Big Marketing. Actually they don't sleep much, I'm thinking. And, they have really, really white teeth, and sprayed on tans. Actually it's quite annoying, but it's the way of the world in CA.
Just watch an episode on Bravo about the "Real Housewives of Orange County". My daughter tells me it's all absolutely true, and she lives in Orange County. I trust her, and she doesn't have a boob job, therefore she's honest.
Hrmph. The notaries in California are just as good as the notaries in the other 50 States. Just ask Victoria Ring.

Re: Michigan Notaries and Texas Notaries
I meant the number of notaries, actually, Mizz Titlegal.
I keep forgetting about the money in California, actually.

Oh. Well, in that case....
hm.....well, nothing. You took the wind right out of these silly California sails.
That is the gift of Texas (and I suppose, Michigan too). Properly squashed here. Going to watch Grey's Anatomy now on Tivo.
I'll be good.

The CA meetings (I think there's even more than one group there, isn't there?) seem from what I gather here on the board to be fairly well established, and more 'formal' in function - that's my impression, anyway.
MI is "Texas-like"??? LOL! Well, let's see - we MAKE Ford pick-up trucks (or maybe I'm just being nostalgic) and you guys DRIVE them! We grow some corn out in the country, and you guys have cows, and cows eat corn ... man, I'm trying to make this work, Brenda! I find it particularly amusing at the moment, since it's been RAINING for about 7 weeks (fine, I'm exaggerating, but I have DUCKS living in my driveway if that illustrates things).
We're very loose, informal, chit-chatty, and tend to prefer margaritas. It seems that once a person comes and meets the others, everyone continues to dialog - and as this continues, more and more things pertinent to our industry get dialoged about. THIS IS GOOD. Conversation, ideas, feedback - the more, the better. It's pretty grass-roots at this point (this week will be the 4th time? First one was a while ago, I think; 2nd was last Nov, 3rd was in April, Janet's pulling one together for June, great pattern, I think!)
I think what you meant by the comparison is that MI isn't as saturated as CA. However, MI is going through it's own, personal economic collapse - and it has a similar effect. Someone recently posted here that our BK rate is double the national avg - I sure don't have reason to question that stat. I suspect - and this is completely pulled from the clouds - that we might have an increasing number of part-time SA's trying to supplement their income, which might not be the best influence on our business. MI is losing ground from the TOP, and that trickle-down effect bites the Big Picture right in the backside.

I read a post by Jahari Davis awhile back speaking about the MI meeting in Lansing. I emailed him to find out some info but he never replied.
If you would, I would appreciate some information also. How is the turn out, what is the mentality, is this an informal chat with no agenda or are there materials put together for a structured meeting and keeping notes for the agenda of the next meeting, that type of stuff.
If you prefer you can email me. I would greatly appreciate the networking.

Lulu, I am so sorry. I did get your email and I honestly meant to respond with the info about the meeting. I deeply apologize.
