NNA membership

How important is NNA membership for getting work?

Some Title complanies pay attention to whether you are a member of an organization, some do not. It is entirely up to you. Most that I have spoken with like to see you have had Signing Agent training/experience. This is most often accomplished through a Notary organization.

My experience with the NNA merships has been this: People calling from that listing tend not to want to meet my fees.

I have a signing service and the NNA listing is the last place I look for a signing agent.

Which listings do you use the most? Just want to make sure I'm on them!

Signing Registry listing (those that have passed the SR test get preference), and I use the NotaryRotary listing, then if I haven't found someone on those lists (I usually do though), then I check out Jeremy Belmont's site . I rarely have to resort to the NNA listings.

I am a Florida only signing agency. I occasionally get a request for an out of state signer (property in Florida), in those cases I will locate a signing agent and put the title company and the signer in contact with each other.

Re: NNA membership - note

I find if I mention the name of Jeremy Belmont's site, the message won't post - I get a "Problem with Post" message. Strange!

Re: NNA membership - note

Not strange at all, his company name has obviously been put into the banned words filter. I've had that happen with a few mild expletives.

I did have a post a few weeks ago that wouldn't post and for the life of me I couldn't figure out what the bad word was. No curse words, no company names, nothing at all in it that should have prevented it from posting.

I had that happen to me also. I didn't mention any companies, no swearing. I never did figure out what the problem was.

Cali and Sylvia...that has happened to me before too adn I couldnt figure out what was wrong and I just gave up the post and didnt post it. I guess we are really being monitored here to what can be said.

I never bother with the certification on sites anymore. I don't want to pay for it, but I also don't feel that I need to be a certified signing agent. I was an escrow officer for 10 years, and a real estate paralegal for over 6 years. Do you consider experience over being certified, or certification over experience?

I have received calls from my NNA listing (and they met my fee), but not as often as the calls I receive from this site.

I have had two, yes that's two, calls from the NNA NSA site in the last year. My membership cost me nothing and that's just what I got from it.

I agree with Becca/FL, I have only received two calls from my listing on the NNA site. I get a large percentage of my calls from Notary Rotary, followed by 123 and a small percentage from several other sites.

Re: NNA membership - Joan - about Becca's complimentary....

membership.

Becca made a remark on a board and they called and offered it to her for free to try it out for a year and report her findings.

99% of my business referrals come from the NNA where I am a Certified SA.
1% combined come from Notrot and one other site. I don't want to get beeped.
I've been an SA for a little over two years with very minimal past dues or collection calls needing made. The companies do meet my fees also.

I think for everyone it is different, while some may get alot of business from the NNA SA site, others may get very few or none at all. I do get a lot of my business from NNA and from this site as well, its like a 50/50 thing so far. Sometimes you have to play with "fire" to find out for yourself how it may work. Not everyone will have the same results. But the choice is really your's, even if opinoins of others do help. ...dee

Re: NNA membership - did not renew this year

For the last year I received ONE - yes I said ONE referral call from the NNA listing. I decided not to renew.. I ask all new companies whether title or signing service where they obtained my information for my records. 70% of my new calls come from Notary rotary and the rest from gomobile and 123.com,

best of luck to all who venture into the wrath of the NNA. And I keep getting those "how to become a signing agent conference brochures".

much success to all
