NOTARIES UNITE AGAINST JG WENTWORTH!!!!!!!

I have had the same experience as many of the rest of you. I did a signing for JG Wentworth on 4/25/2006, arranged by a Rick Borda and a Cliff Satchell. It was agreed upon that I would receive payment by May 1. I was told that this was guaranteed, and this was promised to me by Cliff Satchell. May 1 came and no check. I called on the morning of the 2nd and asked for a tracking number. Cliff told me that no check had been cut yet, but he would call me back that day with a tracking number. He closed this phone call with "Talk to you later today, Kate." Needless to say, no call. Today again, No check. I called and spoke with him. He told me that since the case had not yet been closed it would be a few more DAYS. I said that this was simply unacceptable and asked to speak with his supervisor, Matt Urban. In a nutshell, Matt basically said too bad for you, it will be another six weeks. SIX WEEKS???? A FEW DAYS????
Matt then told me that THEY don't owe me any money, their client does. They are doing ME A FAVOR by arranging this. BULLSH*T!!! THIS IS MY BUSINESS!!! I explained to Matt that as a notary, this is my business. This is my income, and if they continued to run their business this way, they would never be able to find another notary to work with. I then asked to speak with Matt Urban's boss. I was told that his only boss was the president of the company, and I could not speak with him.
I have been jerked around by these people for a week and frankly, I am sick of it. I'm calling a lawyer. Those of you that are owed money from them should do the same. I'm also going to be sending them daily invoices with my late charge of 150% accruing daily.

I URGE YOU TO CONTACT MATT URBAN AT JG WENTWORTH AND LET THEM KNOW THAT YOU WILL NOT TOLERATE THE WAY THEY DO BUSINESS!!!!!

Kate - next time they call me I will say that not only must they first pay Sylvia, they must also pay you before I will work for them. Of course, they always say they will...and I say to arrange to send the funds immediately to me and to Sylvia. And, as soon as Sylvia and funds are in my account - I'll get 'er done.

The next thing I hear is click.

Twice I have had that pleasure.

Don't put %

Absolutely, charge a late fee. A big one.

But don't charge it in the form of a per centage. Non-financial institutions are limited by the per cent we can charge.

Instead, charge a hefty late fee in a set amount. "Late fees of $x will be assessed weekly for all payments after 5/x/2006." Something like that.

I don't know about your state, but my state charges additional fines for stiffing government officials, including notaries. Find out the specifics and add this wording to your past due notices.

Thanks for heads up about JGW.

Good luck!

Re: NOTARIES UNITE - Should we all keep

Cliff and Matt busy for a few days?

Someone write the script and I'm willing to call them for a brief chat. I am just not sure what to say....I will polish up my whistle while the script writer get our lines done.

Seriously...there are times when this is not such a bad idea.

My Smart alley position on JG...

When they tried to stiff me I took them to court and won. Immediately thereafter I called the number i saw on their commecial on my tv and said I have a structered payment and want the lump instead of the structured. I let them go on about the speal and all and they they said who is paying the strctured payment and I said well let me fax it to you the court order...JG Wentworth. Needless to say their slimy salesrep didnt respond. Oh btw I did finally receive payment. I almost conisdered going to their office inperson since they are only an hr to hr and half from me but didnt have to go that far.

Re: My Smart alley position on JG...

I filed a complaint with the BBB and have contacted a lawyer in my area. I am adding a $90/day late fee and have given them 48 hours to satisfy the invoice before I contact my lawyer and tell him I want to proceed.

Katherine, before you add 150% or a $90/a day late fee, you'd better consult with your attorney or you will blow yourself right out of the picture and be slammed with usery

I would look to see if you have an agreement that states otherwise or some written indication in their confirmation to the contrary, but if their position is that the borrower owes you a fee rather than J G Wentworth, I would demand my fee from the borrower at the closing table. Actually this could work out quite well, if everyone took them up on their stated position.
