I'm researching the mobile notary field and know little about it. I would appreciate any help with information onteh business, pros and cons, etc. as well as how to get started. Also, I'd like to know how to guage both the demand and the comptetion in my area.
Thanks in advance.

go to the "Find a Notary" tab and put in your zip. that should give you a good idea how many notarys there are in your area. Research, read. Use the "search" tab. Start with message 33325.
Good luck and happy reading.

honesty, what got you interested in this line of work?

Thanks for the info - wow, message 33325 is a wealth of information! I'm still reading. I would appreciate any other input that anyone cares to provide.

As to what got me interested - well, I've been searching for a second career doing some kind of independant work after 25+ years working as a fire chief- time for a change! I have made inquirys about things that one can do as an independant contractor and someone mentioned it....

Re: Newbie questions...Thanks and how interesting, so you

are retired from the fire department, thank you for your service in protecting us all. This will be a very different change for you and I would suspect you just might enjoy. Good luck to you. I have a number of firefighters that live on the same street as we do and cops also. I feel very well protected in my neck of the woods with this many firefighters, they are not yet retired.

LOL - when I hear fire chief I think of Fire Chief Shirley in the town I raised my son in. She had flaming red long hair...what a wonderful person she was. I loved her.

Re: Newbie questions...Notary Girl would you mind terribly

If I suggest you tone down the perky tone a bit (all the exclamations points, etc.), it's almost like nails on a chalkboard. I'm a little tired tonight and maybe cranky. Thanks and how the hell is the hybrid? We are really all so happy for your terrific success, really!!!!

Yeah... I guess a sense of humor is an advantage....

Tell me more Notarygirl..... I see your kind of stories, and others that aren't so enthusiastic....

Is the key to simply sign on with all the companies that you can?

You have to be positive! A PMA is a must (positibe mental attitude) I know sometimes I can be a bit harsh Frown but I am honestly get so sick of all the pessimists on this site...just be positive and happy and you WILL do well in life and also as a mobile notary!!!

I take it you sign up for all the $40.00 signings and haven't realized that it takes more than that in gas (hybrid or not) and toner for your equipment so obviously your time isn't really worth much.
