Notaries - do not be intimidated
It occurs to me that the reason a signing service employee will pick up the phone to set one of us straight is because too many of you are intimidated that you will not get more work from a company who hires these would-be intimidaters. Who would want the work anyhow? Oh please.
I won't debate with these people. They want to put the lid on great places like NotaryRotary.com where notaries can share the truth about who is treating notaries well and who does not. These strong-arm types need to do their own homework.
Everyone strengthen your backbone today. Reserve polite professionalism for those who have a clue as to what it means.

I agree, Iit seems certain that the companies who hire these types know exactly what they will be like and have them go for it. I bet they are ex-collection agency employees. The truth is they are the pencil pushers and we are the persons who should really have the control.

And also...
ever notice that the ones with the most fax backs, longest 'required' list, umpteen phone calls and the lowest low ballers are always the LAST to pay up?

Re: Notaries - do not be intimidated- Yes stay strong
A few months back I did a signing for a company I had done a lot of work for, perhaps 6-8 signings per week for them. They pay timely and I did enjoy working for them. Most of the work I did for them was overnight in my area so plenty of time to schedule appointments. I got the call on a Friday during the day, for signing Saturday. I said we have no Saturday delivery, scheduler says oh ok signing can be Monday. Now I had a early a.m. Saturday signing, completed that signing went home and decided to call the Monday appointment just to confirm our signing time of Monday at 5. Borrower says docs are here and LO officer told us you'd be here today/Saturday. I said ok I'll be right over. I arrived, nice folks, but small package. I complete the small packet, perhaps 50 pages and leave, get home notify ss of what occurred. Monday full set of docs arrive, I call ss service again. SS gets so upset with me, the owner of company hangs up on me, I wasn't upset at all. I did what I was supposed to do but I was not returning to borrower without an additional fee, ss began laughing and asks you're not expecting us to pay full fee. I said of course not. He hangs up on me, waits a few moments and then calls back, said he and I were getting so upset we needed a break. I said I wasn't upset. Long story short I did get paid an additional fee, he made an offer and to be fair I said no you can pay me half of that, will be acceptable to me, it was right down the street. Clearl I have since been deleted from their list. I did get a lot of business from them but you know another ss is right around the corner and even if I don't work for them anymore I work for many other companies. Amen, Susan.

We can all relate to that one in the field.

Good movie, adore Jack...I loved him in Five Easy Pieces, the diner scene...

I will never let a fast food headset high school drop out phone jockey who has no real knowledge of the industry try to "set me straight." Nuh uh. I am a professional, a businessman, and a growing expert in my field. Talk to me with respect (reverence and awe are good, too). And I will never do anything other than shoot from the hip. Those who know me or have seen my work respect that about me, those who don't can eat my SOX, er, socks.

You and me both. I conduct myself in a professional manner, but I am not afraid of firing back at these wanna be jerks. I own this damn business not them, and they are not about to tell me how to run it. If they don't like it, they can move on to another notary.
