Notary Fees on the HUD
The notary fees on the HUD do not always cover just the notary fee to the SA, there are often other docs connected to the loan that are signed by someone at the title company and have to be notarized.
I had worked for one title company. On the HUD the notary fee was listed at $40 - that was the actual fee they were paying to a notary, the signing agent (my) fee was included in the Closing Costs.
So, unless the signing service is listed as receiving a certain fee, the "notary fee" could cover other notary work.

The first time my name was actually on the HUD I was so thrilled. Now it's like a double edge sword. The other day, I was actually "fussed" by Mrs. Borrower because my fee was excessive to her.

I hate it!
It's like walking around with a price tag hanging from my pants.

You might be on to something. At least one knows the investment required.

My name has been on the hud a few times and each time the bwr's have said "we thought you would have charged more for coming all this way" Just goes to show that some brw's are more then willing to pay the fee so they don't have to do the traveling.

Most people don't understand what YOU have to buy and maintain. Car costs, gas, insurance, computer stuff (paper, toner, light bill) PLUS your expertise. If people remembered this, they may think twice about 'your excessive fee.'
