OT: United 93....

I just came back from the movies. I watched United 93 and am shocked, outraged, upset, angry, devastated......

This is the only movie so far that has ever kicked started my adrenalin (sp ?) and made me feel so many emotions. I kid you not I cried at some points, and wanted to kick @ss during others. I had chills up and down my spine during certain scenes....... this movie was intense.

I can't believe how sick some people are! I don't know what to feel right now!

This message is a warning! Really think before you decide to watch United 93.

Re: OT: United 93....Agree w/ Korey...

I felt that it would be better for me not to see it as I am very sensitive to such as this.

Never saw this moving, but that phrase still makes me want to cry...

"Let's roll..."

And yes... if you are easily moved.... don't watch United 93! It's not for the faint of heart!

We can use Brenda's shotgun instead of our voices! LOL

Brenda I can picture you riding around in a pimped out Hummer wearing military boots and BDU's. I don't think anyone who knows you would ever mess with you. I'm also seeing bright pink lipstick...... is my visual correct?

Re: Me too

Me too Brenda, but I missed the Passion of the Christ for the exact same reason.

As I'm advancing in years, I frankly don't give a hoot if I shed a tear in a theatre. Most people in the same theatre are wigging out that their emotions show by such a movie...so I'm not in bad company!

Re: No!

Jeez, I hate it when the keyboard takes over...

See it (United 93) to ignite the American within. We are all too lazy and too "busy" to take action in the important issues of our Country. Here is a story of people who lived up the the American Hero Dream and lost their lives in the process. They are truly Hero's as they gave their lives for us, just like our Military does.

I hope the "emotionalism" of the movie isn't just blown off as emotional. I hope the impact makes the Sleeping Giant of this Country take command and re-fuel the American in all of us.

Well written....

My post was only a warning. If you're easily "moved" by movies, especially those based on true events, then be prepared to "move" all the way to the left and around the next block!

After you watch it, share with us your thoughts. It was interesting to see all the different types of emotion over the same subject matter tonight. I'm curious to read your thoughts.

Re: Well written....

TitleGal is better suited to have her emotions tickled or shredded. I am NOT making light of her comments. They were wonderful.

I just know my limitations - - I used to enjoy this kind of a movie but finally I learned that there are certain things that trigger days of unnecessary down time for me...this would be one. I can just listen to the Star Spangled Banner and or America The Beautiful and become very moved...I am inspired with logic over and above the drama. Once the movie's over I am wasted for days...let me be in touch with logic and I can keep on ticking...steadily.

My husband died unexpectedly and tragically...those kinds of things make you have little receptors which kick off the bad chemicals in the brain. Look...not seeking sympathy here...just warning those with similar circumstance to connect their own dots. . . this kind of thing may not be for them...too intense.

Agreed.

I tend to avoid those intense emotional experiences for the exact same reason. As for being 'better suited'......Brenda, you are too kind. I am a wimp at heart.

Still this one and the reviews will make me see it, it's an important film IMO.

Maybe I will get it and watch it a little at a time. That's one way I can see this type of movie.

Re: Agreed.

I too, from what I've read and heard, think that this is a important film for many to see. However, I lived that day, upfront and personal, and probably would not be able to make it through the entire film. That day is stuck in my memory forever, and everyday I am reminded of it since I was commissioned in Florida on that day.

I think every american should see it.....

Simple so that we don't forget. The news media has done everything it can to not hurt American's feelings, but not showing images of the WTC, by not doing anything that might offend someone.

But, if we don't remember what happened, how can we be prepared for it again? Everyone should go, everyone should remember, and everyone should support the people that are out there fighting to keep it from happening again.

(end of political spew) hehe

You fear what you don't understand...

and it appears as if Patriotism is, today, one of the most misunderstood emotions. I can still remember the Viet Nam era, I was a teenager in high school when that war erupted and JFK instilled such patriotism in the young that all the boys couldn't wait to enlist! It seemed as though all the boys were going into the Service and all the girls were either getting married or becoming nurses. Boy how times change! I got married, had a son and settled into the "housewife" lifestyle, watching the war on TV like millions of other Americans. As my son grew up I became inquisitive about a war that actually ruled our lives for soooo long and went to see Platoon. I will never forget my feelings after viewing that film, the reality of what classmates saw over there, the reality of what life really is as opposed to what our politicians would have us think. I have always supported this great country and have always felt truly blessed to be an American. Everyone who dies for freedom is a hero, they have made it possible for me to come here and post. Freedom IS NOT FREE and it should be required viewing for every American as a wake up call on how easily our Country can be compromised. Plausible denial is the height of ignorance and a smoke screen designed to shelter the faint of heart.

We ceased prayer in school, the Pledge of Alligence, the draft. Everything now is "politically correct" out of fear of offending someone. Offending someone who would take my freedom in less than a heartbeat. Profiling is "against my constitutional rights", what a crock. 10 months after 911 my sister came to visit, flew into Nashville. When we returned to that beautiful city for her departure she was taken to an area where she was thoroughly searched, her bags taken apart, her shoes removed. I was furious! She was dying from brain cancer, in a wheel chair, bald headed from the chemo and radiation. Two very tall, very "foreign" dudes walked straight through, in business suits, maroon "wraps" on their heads. Profiling at it's finest.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that we need to wake up, we're going to have to begin offending others IF we intend on keeping our freedom. For decades German history books made no mention of the Holocost (?), as I said...plausible denial. We are indeed isolated from the nasty business of war. We send our children to foreign shores to insure we can continue freedom as we believe it to be. It makes little to no sense to ask our children to put their lives on the line for us and then turn around and insist on "rights" straight across the board right here at home.

Demand that this government stand strong against any possible foreign "invasion", support your men and women in uniform as their sacrifice is YOUR sacrifice. Educate yourselves, see films and read books! Yep, reality pretty much sucks and sometimes you can't bare to watch...it is then that you MUST watch because it's the real world and if you don't want it happening next door you have to be aware. It actually is a very small minority of Americans that do the protesting, it's just that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. For every American that enjoys his/her freedom there's hundreds of thousands somewhere that want to take it.

Korey all of those feelings you experienced are wonderful because it says that you experienced something that you did NOT relish. You saw reality and you did/didn't want to accept it hence the anger/fear. Too many of us have blinders on and truly believe we're such a powerful nation that no one can touch us. Hitler felt that, every dictator (insert terrorist) feels they are untouchable. As we progress some things are just distasteful, i.e. closing our borders etc. When I was younger our schools practiced "duck and tuck", it was downright scarey! Nothing scares me more though than to come to the realization that our cities and our people can now be brought down to our knees by our own guilt for not wanting to "offend someone". Sheesh...sorry this was so long but I for one can never forget those heroes that are no longer here that tried to insure this very thing "couldn't happen". IF a film, a magazine article, a TV interview makes you stop and think...THEN PRAISE THE LORD. Maybe people will stop making tank tops out of our flag and lose the idea that they're helping the oppressed BEFORE they become the very thing they're fighting to protect!

Now that I've got my own adreline pumping, I'm going to work!

Excellent wording. This country needs to be reminded why we have a military that does protect us. America is hated by many countries, and they want to destroy us. We need to be the sleeping GIANT that just woke up and destroy people who want to take down America!!! Thank you to the real heroes who protect us and risk their lives. There are not enough words to describe the selfless acts you are doing to keep us this great nation!

It is also a reminder that the plan was devised under the Clinton administration. There were several attemts to hand Osama over to us, but Clinton refused. Our intelligence spending was also cut during the tenure of Mr. Clinton.

Few American's realize this and blame the standing administration for the defects of the previous leadership.

Osama and his militants are rotten to the core--their actions were the beginning of the recession if the US economy--many forget this as well.

Julie...I'm not going to get into a partisan debate with you

BUT I just want to ask you this....who cares who's administration started this crap? Does it make you bleed less knowing that? Geez....during the mass genocide of the Jews, gypsy's and homosexuals in Germany America turned away ship after ship of refugees...should we get into a debate over that? Of course not...we need to LEARN from previous mistakes not upchuck who-did-what-when and exactly how. You either learn or history repeats itself...the politicians love it when you get off topic and blame the administration. This country was founded by folks that got sick and tired of BS....somehow we only determine to value the democrat...the replublican....teeing off on the party smoke screens the real issues at hand.

Boy oh boy, someone asks their views on a movie, off topic, and I have my take but because I don't follow the opinions if the majority, you spew at me.

Kinda like the word association games you all play--Flight 93 reminds me of how it happened and who the players are. I'm a factual person not an emotional thinker. Gimme a break.
