OT-personalized license plates

I'm not a big fan of the above plates but do get a big kick out of trying to figure some out. I have been debating for a good year as to whether I wanted to attempt to order them, of course NOTARY was taken, 1NOTARY, INOTARY, ANOTARY....many of my first choices were taken. These were some other choices the hand symbol plus NOTARY, the heart symbol.
I debated over CNOTARY (see notary), ZNOTARY reminded of a Z28 my hubby once owned.
Does anyone have personalized plates, someone in CA must because the above were taken.
I thought with Paw's signs on my trunk the personalized plates would add something.....
I saw a notary last week in Murrieta, a white vehicle-SUV with large white letters on tinted (I think) glass, back window announcing her/his business, not sure I'd want the big letters but it was easy to read and caught your eye I guess if your another notary or not.... The plain plates are the cheapest, add the heart, hand or any other symbol cost goes up, scenery also increases the cost.
Any plates suggestions? Seven letters or numbers?????I hope on one comes up with one better then me.....then I'll be sorry I didn't think of that one and there is no refunds but of course you don't have to pick up the plates-8-12 weeks they say to get them, can't those prisoners work faster then that.....

I have them and they attract attention when I pull up to a BO's home. Looks professional and it is easy to figure out what it is for.

Can't say it gets me any extra work, maybe Paws sign is the next item to add!

I'm confused, how does your plate read, the actual letters on the plate or is this the sign you had Paw make?
License Plate 7 letters/numbers.....

You can add a space without using a letter/number. Check the smaller box below the bow that you pick letters from.

I do not have one yet, but I have ordered one. I am a full time tax preparer and part time notary. All services are mobile and I drive a van with everything I need in it. I put nice, clear lettering on the tinted windows this year and I do get some response from it, both tax and notary work (not loan signing, just small notary work). I have ordered the plate TAX VAN, since I am mainly a tax preparer. Really looking forward to receiving it. If you want a way to support veterans in CA and still get an inexpensive personalized plate, check out the CA VA website. They have a link to give you info on ordering plates that show one of about 300 different veteran organization's symbols, and the money from those plates goes to support veterans organizations in CA. That is where I ordered mine, along with a US Navy symbol since I am retired Navy.

Debbie wish I had read your post earlier, I did order my plate early this a.m. I'm happy with my choice but I do like the veterans, also the military, my son is a Navy man, my brother was and my dad as well. Darn I wished I'd gotten this earlier, I knew this board would have some good ideas. Just out of curiosity when did you order? Is it actually 8-12 weeks for delivery or no? Ray how long did it take for you to get yours?
Ray even if no major business comes from it, it will bring some, just another marketing tool.

Re: OT-personalized license plates HUMMMMMMM

I just ordered my plate about 2weeks ago, so I don't expect it for awhile, not sure of the actual time, but I estimate it will take 8-12 weeks, maybe longer since those have to be mailed in, not ordered on line. I agree that even if I get no business directly from it, it will look cool and maybe make someone remember me, plus it is going to support organizations that I support. The cost of the plates is only $30/yr, plus a one time extra $10 for the personalization, so it is really a bargain!

Re: OT-personalized license plates HUMMMMMMM

Yes, I agree the price is right and it will perhaps jog someone's memory when thinking in terms of notary, I also have Paw's signs right above my now license plate so I think it will work in conjunction. I have found the CA DMV really moves at a fast pace so my thinking is it will get here sooner.....but that's just me. Also Debbie may I ask what you did for the Navy? My son is Nuke, Dad was a pilot and brother was an airplane mechanic.

Re: OT-personalized license plates HUMMMMMMM

I spent most of my career as a Mechanical Calibration Technician, mostly working on Submarines and ships. The last five years I was moved to something else because the Navy did away with the rate and outsourced it to civilian only. I became an Aircraft Mechanic (AM1), but did not actually do the work (I don't even like planes very much), I was a Safety Petty Officer, running the Safety programs in Aircraft squadrons. I miss the calibration work...but I am very happy with my business now that I am retired. Where was all of your family stationed?

The work on Subs and ships was this when the vessels were at sea? If so how was your time at sea? My son gets his nuke engineer degree in June, Commissioned Officer attending OSU (Oregon State University) then returns to Charleston, SC for 12 months, out to sea for 6. He hopes to land in Washington State. Brother was stationed in Jacksonville, FL.
Dad was a pilot in War World II.......
How many years did you put in?

Re: OT-personalized license plates HUMMMMMMM

Most of the work was done in port, I was actually mostly stationed on Submarine Tenders, a ship that works on Subs when they are tied up alongside. Did plenty of underway time though, especially on carriers. Love the sea, do not prefer the carriers. I was in for 20 years.

Yes, I bet your are. Was your spouse also in the military? You were in some choice locations. My son is getting married for the second time this July, his future wife is a teacher and is going for a few job interviews in SC, she is leaving on Mother's Day, just a short 3 day trip, she wants to continue teaching while in SC. Neither has kidlets as yet. I think if they have kidlets soon it would be nice to be close to family for that support when the military person is out to sea or has orders in another location. He is in his 8th year in the Navy and the Navy has been "Very Very Good" to him, he has reaped terrific bonuses, as I'm sure you did also.

Military life is rough on families, but it can be managed. My husband did 4 years and got out, I stayed in, the Navy treated me fine. I don't regret it, but I am glad I'm retired now. Both my kids are Navy brats, I regret the time spent away from them, and the moving away from their friends, but that is part of military life.

and I wish I knew you were there when I did my son's taxes. He was out of the AF in April 2005. The Federal were easy, but I despise the way California State Forms are set out and the instructions. Truthfully, I'm not that confident I did it right and I took an H&R tax course 5 years ago.

TitleGal, I will e-mail you. I actually am very experienced with the problems with military and state tax issues. I volunteer to work for the Franchise Tax Board and train the military tax preparers, so if I don't know the answer, I have contacts with the state who do.

Re: OT-personalized license plates.... Susan

Susan...I took a different route in the personalized plate thing for my new Accord. Instead of using the notary deal...the next best thing was "what do I work with every day of my life"?

The answer is Paper. I am a paper junkie. When I get my nails done, the nice asian lady says "oh, you work in an office". I say, "how do you know"? She says, "your hands are dry and paper sucks the moisture out of your hands and cuticles. Great.

I have paper cuts on my fingers at least once a month. I get really disturbed if someone takes my staple remover...not one of those claw things, it's sort of a "lift" and it's in bright green. Don't anyone take my stapler remover. It's cause for violence.

I adore my electric stapler, and I am now the proud owner of an ELECTRIC hole punch. Aren't you all green with envy?? Ha!

It's all about paper, whether there's a notary seal on it or not.

My license plate reads PPR PSHR. Smile Hopefully it's an easy one to figure out on the freeway...it makes for mild entertainment for us California freeway drivers to "get it" when a plate is before us with letters only.....when I finally figure it out, I just want to drive up next to the guy and say hey! I got it! NaNa

Hope folks get mine.

LkArrowhd: OT-sorry, didn't want to start another thread

Flight 93 was not for entertainment it's more of a witness movie. I'ts witnessing a tragedy, seeing a replay of an event that took place. If the families affected were okay with the movie being made ( it was not a glamorized) then I wanted to see it.

When the movie was over, no one in the auditorium(sp) was talking.

I also purchased the book based on the people who met their demise on Flight 93, although my sister has it right now.

Yes, I have read the most current reviews on the movie and that the families were ok with the making of it, I had no intention of seeing it, thinking how sad it would be. But I'm rethinking it now.....

Oh no, I'm sorry, I wasn't suggesting it was entertainment. It was an awful tragedy, I believe my question merely asked your thoughts and in doing so I certainly didn't mean to suggest it was entertainment by any means.
