Out of state loan docs
Help! I haven't done many real estate notarizations. My neighbor bought a property out of state and asked that I notarize the docs. The docs are preprinted and say State of Arizona, County of Maricopa (where the property is located), but my commission is in the State of California, County of Orange. Can I cross out Arizona and Maricopa and put my correct information or do I have to provide a separate form and attach it? What do I do??? Thanks for your help!

Yes. Just draw a single line thru the incorrect information and write in your State and the County where the signing takes place. You initial the change. In addition, if the documents are to be recorded in Arizona, you may use the out of State Acknowledgment as long as it does not require you to do anything CA does not allow such as certifying capacity. You will have to use a CA Jurat or the stamp, if you have one.

In the venue portion of the notary certification...yes, cross out the pre-prints & enter your State, county.
