Pre Signing

Has anyone ever been asked to do a pre-signing? It sounds like it's just the escrow docs, about 20 pages, no notarizations, and you pick up a check made out to the signing service for $60...they pay you $35. I've never heard of it before....

Is it something that you can walk across the street to do? Because I can't imagine anyone would travel much further than that for $35.

I've done loan applicaton packages, not sure if this is the same thing. They can take just as long as a regular signing since there is usually some stuff that needs to be filled out in addition to the signatures.

I wouldn't waste my time with what they're offering you.

I've done what they call Respa Documents. There is no notarization and it does show the terms of the loan etc. I do them for a lesser fee like I do for helocs. They do take as long as a loan signing. I definitely wouldn't do them for $35 if I saw that correctly.

I've done a few of those...for the ones I've done the BO needs to gather LOTS of paper work, fill out personal information and they actually took longer than a REFI.

Ditto, LauriecPA

My borrowers were elderly and wanted to read EVERTHING. I reminded them that they were NOT signing the loan and these were just prelim papers. I scheduled 45min for the job (my mistake) it ended up taking 1hour 15minutes, I kid you not, this 85 year old man wanted to read EVERYTHING. I got paid for the job last week, 60 days later and hope I don't have to go back for the closing. In fact, I requested that I NOT be called for that closing.

That's right Laurie, I'd forgotten about them needing to supply W-2's etc and then the entire package of docs and proofs had to be faxed then sent regular mail.
