Professional Settlement Services - Any good experiences....
because they called me yesterday while I was on the road, and asked if I'd start closing purchases and reverse mortgages for them in NC. I was referred to them do to my escrow officer/paralegal experience. Since this forum was not accessible to me at the time, I didn't get to search them before I agreed to take the closing. They did agree to a very high fee.
I didn't find anything positive in my search. I'm hoping there are a couple good experiences. I think I did a closing for them last summer, but I'm not sure, they all kind of seem to run together.

I have them on my no no list, but since I haven't done any business with them, it must be because of the non-compete clause in the contract which they insist must be filled out without any changes. I'm not willing to eliminate any possible source of business for a nebulous company that wants a restrictive contract and page after page of stuff, especially since I haven't seen how, or if, they pay. YMMV

Re: Professional Settlement Services - Any good experiences.
Some time ago I agreed to do a closing for them and when the borrower backed out at the last minute they said they would pay me a cancelation fee of $35. After invoicing and several calls I gave up trying. They recently sent an invitation to sign up with them. I replied that if they settled my past due account, I'd be glad to do more work for them. Got a phone call from Amy Sheldon minutes after my fax to them chastizing me for making my offer conditional.
There are plenty of great agencies out there to work for. My time is valuable and I chose not to bother messing around with the inconsiderate ones.
For what it is worth, I also made a note in my records of a comment on Notary Beware (7/16/04) that they asked someone to back date a document.

I've done several for them in the past and they pay in 2-3 wks. They sometimes will try to get you down in price. Also they do a lot of hand holding and have fax backs. The reps have always been very nice to work with so I'd work for them again.

Re: Professional Settlement Services - Any good experiences.
The good thing here is they met your fee, but you fell for that love at first sound of desperate. My beef with them is that their scanned docs are crappy which make you look unprofessional in the borrower's eyes (you'd bet they'll blame it on your poor equipment). You're gonna get at least 5 phone calls an hour before docs are sent 'til appointment time. You may not get pay if they don't have a contract on file. Should I go on?
PSS is a TC disguised much like FASS (FAT), LandAm Onestop (LandAmerica), Bancserv (Fidelty) b/c their check is cut and sent from Resource Title. Another good thing is they do pay within 3 weeks.

I don't know what you mean by "first sound of desperate." No desperation on my part. This is turning into way more work that I signed on for though. I know both realtors because they've done closings at my ex law office, so they started calling me immediately. It would also seem that Resource Title did not bother to actually send the sellers that POA that was to go out last week, so instead of recording this afternoon, I have to do it tomorrow, but they did up my fee for that. Also, I can't believe they don't understand what a bring down date is or update, I asked for date to update the title search from when I record, and they gave me June 6, 2006.

Lisa, I have done several refi's for this company and everyone is correct...they require alot of work. Phone calls, fax backs etc. BUT bottom line they've always met my fees AND they pay quickly, within 2 weeks in most cases. It's basically a trade off and I've noticed less and less "demands" from them the more that I do. Their check is good, not alot of bartering, I'd work for them again. Starting out with them....well a little patience goes along way.

I'm going to do a few and see how it goes. I don't like making alot of phone calls, but I really have no problem with fax backs, which to me are email backs, I scan and email the docs. Takes about 2 minutes while I'm entering my invoice and mileage info.

I agree with all those who have good comments about PSS. I have done several closings for them in the past, but the wheel seems to have made a turn here. UPS is charging me for docs I returned as indicated in their WO. But their account has been cancelled. I spoke to William, Mark, James and Amy and guess what? none of them has given me a solution. Something smells bad there. I would advise being cautious.

I would not work for them. They can be rude and pushy. They don't pay enough for that in my book.

Rude and pushy can still surprise me...even after all the rude and pushies I have had.
I am amused when signing services try to pick up lit support work and set it up like loan work. LOL...there are schedulers here and there going to work for these places.
For $25 (what they offer) you want me to give you an appointment on my calendar ? No...I do those for more than that and I do them in between other things. I will work it out with the signer - thank you.
Media Montage comes to mind.
