Question for Illinois notary

Today's the day for out of state stamps, it seems, especially Illinois.

Is there no "official seal" in Illinois? The two I've seen today are so simple, it made me wonder about the validity of the acknowledgement, because without an embossing stamp, it looks too simple:

Official Seal
Notary Name
Notary Public, State of Illinois
My comm. exp. date

Thanks for the info!

Title Gal
If you go to:
http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/publications/pdf_publications/ipub1620.pdf

look at page 5, and that is exactly the sample it shows of a seal.

As far as an embossing stamp, in Florida we are not required to use an embosser. The ruber stamp is the official seal. We can use an embosser, as long as we use the rubber stamp, we cannot use it without the rubber stamp.

I used to use the embosser along with the rubber stamp - always thought it looked more official. But, now. with the RA, I don't have the strength to use the embosser

Well... I guess it is that simple. Seems like very loose requirements for the stamp is all - I wonder if they have notary fraud in IL.

Thanks for the link Sylvia.

I suspect there is notary fraud in every state!

In most midwest states the laws are really loose.

I have closed loans in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Illinois, and Wisconsin. You would be surprised at the differences between each state. CA and FL has great instructions and guidelines, but most states don't.

Purchasing the seal requires $10 - $40 cash (depending on
the type of seal ) and the ability to see over the counter @ Office Max etc.
My commission just renewed and I am buying new seals.
One store asked for a copy of my commission, but said that
it was ok without it when I showed my old seal.
Ended up buying on-line with no ? asked
Docs are printed.
Hope all have a good EOM

Relax Pat.

My question wasn't to denigrate Illinois practices in obtaining a notary stamp, more of an observation because of the quidelines in California.

I have a little stamp thingy too. Mine is in pink ink as we in California adore Paris Hilton. I have a little pink crystal case to carry my thingy in. It's totally hot.

Re: Relax Pat.

Actually, I was agreeing with you and the others, Titlegal. Your observation is fairly accurate. Sorry to appear sarcastic, it was not my intent. I really must make more use of those emoticoms.
