In addition to the previously posted correct answers add "They" as well.

They, as stated above or John Doe and Jonathan Doe are all acceptable, but it's best to confirm with the company that hired you, as some TCs do not accept "They" and want the names written out.

This is really not part of the notarial wording and what the lender/TC wants in the space can sometimes be totally different. I never fill this out.

Re: Signature affidavit? Jan...

so you are Notarizing an incomplete doc? That's a no-no.

Re: Signature affidavit? Jan...

I normally repeat the names.

Re: Signature affidavit? Jan...

You can also look at it as "you" are notarizing a document which you as the notary have completed. That is also a "no-no".

Re: Signature affidavit? Jan...

Not if you are directed by the lender or closing agent to do so. At least line through the blank(s) before Notarizing if you are not comfortable following TC/SS instructions. I have not completed anything. I have followed instructions from the assigning agent or instructed the borrowers that the TC/SS request that they complete the doc making it compliant to Florida Notary laws so that I may Notarize it.

Re: Signature affidavit? Jan...

I always have the borrower complete that section. As with everything else, you are usually safest putting more rather than less, so I have the borrower write in all names that are on the page once completed, including any the borrower wants to add. Someone mentioned (was it you, Becca?) that some companies don't want just "they" or something generic written in, and that's been my experience, too.

I tried to find one to look at:
From memory the bo signs at top as they have been throughout the docs.
Then it says something about also known as which is either preprinted or bo is to put in any other names they go by. Once they have printed and signed any additional names they go by, I fill in below where it says:
and that (blank) is one and the same. In that spot I print in 'John Doe and John D Doe'.
I can't seem to picture if that is just above the notarial certificate but I do fill that in. If there are variations I wouldn't leave it blank, whether I fill it in or they do.

It has always seemed as if it were for me to do but we actually aren't supposed to fill in anything on the form including a venue at the top of a page, only stuff within the notarial certificate.
