Thanks and I actually saw it on one of my decorating shows featured on HGTV, however they used a decoupoge paste. I remembered a few years back adhering a fabric to a surface with starch, so I tried the starch and it works perfectly and less costly. I took a long table I have in my office at home, it is like a sofa table for behind the sofa. I had been wanting to do something different with regard to decorating in my office. Table needs no prep(this is also good for a damaged table that perhaps is not repairable. I did this inside yesterday but I would suggest doing it outside the starch will drip. Pour liquid starch from bottle(half gallon) into large mixing bow(starch dries clear), dust off table, get brown paper bags or simply buy a roll of brown packaging paper for mailing. Crumple your bag or paper whichever you decided to use. I used a roll since I had only a few brown paper bags (when asked paper or plastic at the market I always say plastic). Tear pieces in any shape, tear several pieces (25-30) at once depending on surface your covering, soak or dip torn paper in starch until fully wet) try to let access starch drain off pieces however if it doesn't it will all dry anyway. Cover your entire area, you may overlap, dab excess if you like, and let dry, overnight, may be quicker outside, once the item your covering is completely covered and dried at least 24 hours, then take a stain of your choice and with brush, apply to dried paper. Brush stain in all cracks, dab with rag or continue to play with stain and brush until you achieve the look you want, let dry....your done. Let me know how yours turns out. Easy project and looks great....
