UPS & FedEx raising fees

....but then a lot of times the "courier fees" on the HUD are more than adequate anyway

Stamper, they have to be padded to absorb last minute costs associated with the closing, and they do happen. Any leftovers are returned to the appropriate parties.

(and yes, my title hat is on).

Do any of you use USPS 14.40 expess mail flat rate you can go online to usps.com and actually request a pickup for your package you can print out the labels aswell as order the envelopes usps also has track and confirm the rates are not suppose to go up anytime soon due to the last rate increase in Jan.

I guess if we had to pay to ship a package we could use that option but the majority of the packages are sent using the companies shipper account so we have to use what they choose.

Juanita

All notary signing agents don't pay for return UPS or Fedex fees. That is an expense the title company absorbs, and they provide a return package that is paid for. The notary should never pay for the return package; and if someone has requested that of you, don't fall for it.

And if you do that as an accomodation, I hope you are charging for it.

I think the original poster was making a comment, rather than giving instruction.

Re: Juanita

I didn't expect that a SA would pick up the tab on returns I work for the USPS so it kinda just came to me habit of upselling

Re: Juanita- belive me I understand completely

Most everyone, escrow, brokers, RE Agents and Developers expect me (the TC) to pick up the expense on the messenger/UPS fee.

I totally get it, an glad that you're no amatuer, whether a signing agent or a USPS professional. Big Smile

Sorry to break it to you Juanita

But USPS Express Mail is pretty much a nonentity in this industry. I've been doing this for three years and I have never once received or returned docs by Express Mail. Until the USPS can guarantee earlier delivery than noon, they'll never be a real contender.

WHOA!

Sorry I meant it as a comment on the secondary rise in costs due to the increase of gasoline. Its the trickle down effect.
I have yet to pay the shipping costs on documents and the only time my name is on the return address is if it is requested or I go online to the UPS to get the lable and its a required field.
I also may have been a little sacastic which I really should not do...I am not very good at it!
My apologies for that
