Venting, need feedback please.

I received edocs via a winzip file. It was seven attachments. I let the
signing service know that two of the seven files were duplicated. His response was
"well that must mean they want them signed twice'. Ok fine. Get a call today that docs
X and O are missing. In a nut shell we figured out these docs were the two that were
supposed to be in the file's that were doubles. I forward him winzip file and he says" what I got is exactally what I sent you which was seven different files". Jenny told me to send it to
my aol account (it had originally been sent on SBC) and I got the "defective file" So if I got the
same thing "the defective" file how could he have received a perfect file?
I hope this makes sence (sp) as I am just super flustered.

sounds scary to a newby like myself. So did you work things out or is that one of the checks that you won't see because someone else screwed up

I will get paid but of course they expect tomorrows
trip to be on my dime plus the fed ex expences probably
around $20.00.

This is why I will refuse any documents sent to me in a zip file, and you should not have to incur all the charges. This company should meet you at least half way. Why? for sending the damn thing zip in the first place.

I don't get it. You called them when you noticed the duplicated files and followed the instructions that they gave you. Now they expect you to go back out for free AND pay for return shipping? And you're going to do it?

You did nothing wrong. If you make a mistake you fix it on your dime. If they make a mistake they fix it on their dime. I'd tell them that THEY sent me the wrong docs, THEY told me to go out and have the duplicated docs signed when I brought it to their attention, and THEY would have to pay me again to fix their error.

Don't be a wimp.

It depends on what docs were missing. Is it something you should have known and checked for? The note, mortgage, rtc, TIL, or HUD? We should take responsiblity for making sure these docs are in the package.

I have had this "defective" file problem too - zip files are a pain all the way around as far as I am concerned. And he most likely DID get the messed up file, but if it came from his companies system, then maybe it looks right only because he is looking at the original which came from his system. Just a thought. However, I sure would NOT let them guilt you into doing the extra for free. You called and pointed it out, that is what saves your b*tt in my opinion. If they were doc's that were company specific rather than ones that are Industry specific and are in every loan (DOT, Note, TIL, etc) then you would not have been able to know there was a problem after calling the guy anyway....so why should you have to pay for HIS poor judgement call??? I am sick of the jobs where someone makes a bad call and then makes it look like the notary's mistake or the LO's mistake (or someone elses) - and we all know that happens, so dont let them bully you. Even if you have to talk to this guys supervisor, point out that you did your job by pointing out the issue BEOFRE you even went out there to sign, so really you should be paid for your services as well as compensated for the 2nd trip.....and by all means, use their account # to ship back the doc's. If you dont have the acct # anymore, just call up the company and say you are sending back a package and need their acct #, you dont have to volunteer who you are or what your sending them, and they dont usually ask, and most places even have their acct #'s in the confirmation instructions they send. I hope I dont sound like a snob, really I am not.....I have just had recently about 6 large (200+ pages per set) email jobs that were printed and then changed and some had to be reprinted & some just flat cancelled because the numbers were so far off & they were too mad to sign. I am tired of wasting all of my paper and ink. Also, I am really tired of not getting paid for those wasted print jobs & the time and effort i put into it. Sorry, now I am venting. well, I hope it works out for you - if you want me to get you the Fed-ex #, let me know....smile, ha ha. Kristin

One time on SS sent me the wrong docs, it was from a borrower that I signed weeks ago and now
he was doing a heloc, and they sent me the docs from the refi of weeks ago. They sent out at
EOM, I was printing docs at almost midnight, I didnt have chance to look in to the docs, few days
later they called and told me that I printed the wrong documents, hey I told them that I printed whatever they sent me that night. Well they end up paying my full fee without any questions.

When you work for good SS, they pay your full fee if they mess up, but some other cheap SS like
Notary Direct, they make mistakes and they want the notary to be responsible and want things fixed on our dime.
