What is with all the new Notaries?
Did school just let out? I find it strange that so many have posted basic questions in the last 3 days?
If they just got their commissions, have no experience and still have all these questions maybe they need to think about who they shelled out their money to for training.
I still consider myself a "newbie". I have questions all the time but I will at the very least go to who I paid for my training to ask first or I will research for an answer.
I appreciate everyone being nice and holding back so we don't have bloodbath on the boards but this is getting soooo old.
Harry, please start a "newbie" section.

Well sorry i'm new to this. You have to start somewhere and I thought this is what notary rotary is for so you can get your questions answered.I apologize if I offended anybody with my question.

Heidi, You aren't offending me.
I am curious about the large influx of notaries and what kind of training that they have received.
I personally went through the NNA. They quite frankly suck.
I know that I learned more in the first week of being on this site than I ever learned from them. That was because I read and used the search button. Don't get me wrong I asked questions and was very lucky to have great people answer me. I try and return the favor, kind of pay it forward.
I do feel that this site has grown it is widely used and could benefit from a "new notary" section or forum page of it's own. Believe me I am not the first one to come up with this idea.
This is my opinion only. Beverly

Re: What is with all the new Notaries? - Heidi and Newbies
People here have already been collecting info for you. It's in message #33325 and the entire archives.
Heidi - we all get our britches dusted off for us a little bit when we start. If you want to learn here do not take things personally. Never, ever, ever let it get under your skin.
Bev was not referring to you personally...else she'd have tagged you right under your question.
Newbies - today is the day to purchase goose call from the local sporting goods store. Look in the mirror and say, "I am an elephant...I have tough skin." Then, rip a good one on the caller.
Like I said - read 33325...hit the orange SEARCH button and put 33325 into the message # box. Read all that thread. Then, as you have time go back to the beginning and read people you think have good advice. Ask questions after you have done a search.

Guess they don't read very well
Whatever gave you or anyone else the idea that this site is a training site and we would gladly answer any and all questions no matter how many times they have been asked before? Did you even read the "Important Notice" that comes up when you post a message? Harry says to use the search button before asking questions. Did you think that that was a suggestion?
I am not being mean or nasty, but this is a business and it is our business and as such most of us are not willing to turn over the store to someone and especially someone who doesn't do their homework first. This is not personally aimed at you, but to all who come here and want free training. Unfortunately you have chosen about the worst time to enter this profession (yes, that is what most of us on this site consider it, our profession. We are not here to add a little income to the family pot, or so we can take a nice vacation or just have some extra "pin" money). Between the NNA and several (maybe even many) other outfits that view the churning out of new notaries as a "cash cow", the influx of new notaries is growning daily while the amount of refinances are way down. This results in many more notaries chasing a dwindling number of signings (Supply and deman theory in action).

Brenda those are fight'in words...
Okay we can have a online fight but it has to be with Jell-o. I don't want to get any mudd in my eyes because it makes me see blurry. I'll start with Orange sugar free! b.

LOL you two!
I say bring on the mud. I've had a crappy day and now I'm out a pair of shoes. So ready for the blood/mud bath.
Where's that obnoxious and quite stupid NotaryGirl?

Re: LOL you two! Bev & Sue...
His little ears are tucked back and he is quite afraid of me. I showed him the shoe and he skulked away (is skulked a word?).
They came from the Nine West outlet store....stacked heels, like the early 80's...jute string on the bottom, black leather on the top...sniff. This hurts.
He looks so scared tho, now I feel bad.

NotaryGirl is not you... she is, as TitleGal said, just one of several obnoxious posters on these boards.

And they all picked a horrible time to try to make a living as a signing agent.

I have to restrain myself every time I see the "what should I do now" posts. We've had a few this week, haven't we? So I'll say it again to all the new notaries (and I'll probably have to say it next week, and the week after, and the week after, and the week after...). Please show some effort, please show that you've done some research. Read the board for a while, use the search button, read back a few months. Please don't start a career without knowing what you've gotten yourself into. I beg of you, draw up a business plan. I don't care if it's on a roll of toilet paper, have a written plan. Know your area, how saturated it is, what kind of opportunity there is. Have an idea of how you want to market yourself, who you're going to contact. Take this occupation seriously. We do this for a living and it doesn't make friends when you come on here saying you're looking for a little spending cash and heard how easy this is. You may not get the answer you want. That's too bad. You'll get the answer you need. Leave your indignant attitude at the door. You want our secrets? Show us you deserve it. Don't jump at the first answer you get that isn't to your liking. We deal with ingrates every day here, so we're a little sensitive at times. Nothing ticks us off more than someone who thinks they deserve to have their hand held. Bite your tongue, show some humility, and you'll get a ton of help. Tick off the vets, and you'll get annihilated here.
