A voting story that's NOT about politics

I did something kind of stupid at the voting precinct today. They handed me the card to fill out my name, address, and b-day. I fill it out, sign it, and hand it back. About 30 seconds later, the woman says, "Um, sir? I think you made a mistake on your birthday. It says you won't be born until next year." Of course, what I did was the same thing I do a hundred times a day. I wrote my commission expiration (which is on my birthday) instead of the year I was born. Doh! I don't think she bought my explanation, but she still let me vote. Tell me that some of you have done the same thing so I don't feel like such an airhead.

My commissions up next june, so last June, I messed up the date a bunch of times. I'd never be able to keep the date straight if mine expired on my b-day! I feel for ya..

Somewhere between 25 and 30 years of marriage I signed my name with my maiden name - really blew me away - like why did I do that?

My OOPS

Did a closing on 11/02/06 and wrote 11/01/06 on the docs! YIKES!!!! And when did I realilze my error? At the next closing of course. (Yea.. I went back to re-sign all the docs).
OOPS #2: Spilled a cup of coffee on a complete set of docs. Thank goodness they were not signed!

Re: My OOPS

Alright... My OOPS.... here it is:

Crazy hectic day of signings. I take on one more appointment for late in the evening. Print docs, confirm with bo, and get a phone call from my wife with some very exciting and wonderful news (too personal to share)... leave for my signing 1/2 hour away, smiling ear to ear.... everything is great with the world...

I get to the borrower's home, open up my briefcase.... I LEFT THE DOCS AT HOME!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr...... Apologized a hundred times, drove back to pick-up docs, on way back to borrowers home, I stopped at my favorite local bakery and picked up a dozen fresh canoles (sp). Get back to borrowers home, offer canoles (sp) as a peace-offering for my sudden onset of stupidity.

PS-- I've been back to this borrower's home a few times since that happened. They refi every year and request me. They've also called a few times for general notary work. Anytime I see their name, I stop at the bakery for more canoles (sp).

Re: My OOPS

When I worked at a title company, I once spilled coffee all over an executed QCD... the county still recorded it!
