Brither 5150D users
I have a problem with my 5150 that has me puzzled and I was wondering if anyone else has this problem. It will paper jam very selectively. If I print a pagkage and it jams on the right to cancel then for sure the borrowers copies will jam on the right to cancel too. I've ruled out the paper because of this selective jam. I've reinstalled the driver, problem persists. It doesn't seem like it would be mechanical either beause it's so selective when it jams. And it always jams when it transits from letter to legal, never from legal to letter, and never in the middle of a legal or letter run. Antone els have this problem with a brother or othesr printer.
Thanks for any response, Larry

Re: Correction 'Brother"
Check the transition area carefully. I have a roller that slips out on one try periodically. Have you tried swapping the order of the trays to see if that helps?

David, I think that I....
can rule out anything mechanical because it doesn't happen periodically. If it jams on one document in a 120 page package, it will jam everytime on that exact same document.

Have you tried...
uninstalling and reinstalling the software/drivers? There's obviously something fishy that is NOT mechanical. I would try reinstalling. Also, do you physically shut your printer OFF occassionally? I know my Brother needs a nap once in a while (to clear the jumbled memory cache) and it works like new when turned back on.

Re: Have you tried...
Perhaps something in those characters hanging up the software. Have you tried just printing those pages for example. Print pages 1 to 47, the print page 48, the recission and then the rest of the package or just print page 48 and see if it hangs up?
There might be an incompatible font code that is some how getting crossed and hanging up the print, but this a very difficult problem to diagnose.
I always buy the three year replacement plan through OfficeMax and when I have a problem, I just take the printer back and get a new one. ( Have not had to do that yet on this one, but the do have that small roller problem on the tray so likely at about 2.5 years, it will be going back.)
If you are good with technology, you might try installing the drivers or try installing PCL5 driver or a PCL 6 driver. Call Brother's support and ask them how to do this, they are great. Otherwise, others on here such as PAW or perhaps NWDA might be able to help you more specifically on this.
