Funny situation, many can relate....
I just got a call from SS that I had done a signing for last week (11/21). She was wondering why they just got the docs today11/28. I told her I am not sure, but I dropped them on 11/22, I always do. She was concerned that I didn't put them in the drop the day of the signing (which wouldn't have affected the outcome...none the less, the only point to argue at this point).
I thought maybe they didn't get them due to the Holiday, but she was adament(sp?) that I had done something wrong.
I explained that I like to do a "quality control" check before the docs go out, and that with this 5:30 appointment time, they would not have gone out that day anyway. She continued to explain that the service contract states that the docs must be dropped the day of, regardless of whether they will go out or not.
I told her that I see her point but asked, "what would have changed, if I had dropped them the day of the signing or not? They still would not have gone out until 11/22."
The long and the short, I asked her if she would like me to track the package and let her know when I dropped them...
They were dropped on 11/22 and they got to them 11/24....looks like someone dropped the ball on that one, and it wasn't me!
The morel of the story...keep your tracking numbers handy & offer proof. She appologized and thanked me. I think this may have saved me from getting docked on my fee.

I don't bother filing my paperwork until I have a printed copy of the delivery receipt. When they call me (and it's happened 1/2 dozen times) I pull out my invoice with all information backing it up. Never had a problem.

What kills me
Is that they cannot think to look up that information on their own. I thought this is why many of these co.'s require we fax or email them the Trk#. It seems that it would be much easier if they went online to look it up themselves. What a PITA!

I agree...
I even asked her to give me the tracking number. She couldn't find it. "They hadn't updated their system with that information yet." I finally pulled out my file & gave it to her again...this is the same company that will call and chew us out for not calling in status, even though we already have. LOL

For future reference
Always include SS/TC email for shipping & delivery notifications if you do shipping labels online.

I did everything right and UPS still
sent the docs to Louisville KY when they were supposed to go to TX. I dropped them on Friday AM and they went out on Monday even though I was told they would ship on Friday. The loan was supposed to fund today.

I always get a receipt when I send the docs back. That way if it should get lost or not arrive you can prove what date and time you sent it.

Fedex Angst related
Hi Mindy:
Have any of you had issues with FedEx simply not removing the documents from the box as promised? This has happened to me twice in Plumas County and both times FedEx blamed me. Kind of ironic as both times my husband took me to the ONE drop off box in town. I took documents to the box, placed them inside, heard them drop and then opened the chute to make sure they had gone down. I did this the morning after the signing and kept all my tracking information. Most recently when the documents were not picked up and I called FedEx I was told in no uncertain terms by the people at "Customer Service" that their driver picked up anything and everything in that box and if there was a problem, it was me. I'm wondering if anyone else has been down that road with FedEx or UPS. Thanks.

There was a FedEx guy around here
that got caught with part of the barcode for a local dropbox taped to his clipboard. According to our "usual" guy, they can't scan that code until a 1-2 minute window before the stated pickup time. Well, this cheater was caught scanning early or not stopping to pick up, but scanning the location anyway...

Morning Kate
I had one 3 months ago that turned into a nightmare! BO's were divorcing, two different signing locations and the wife's attorney got involved after the fact. I dropped the docs, did everything you stated, listened for it to drop etc. When I tried to track it, nada, zip, nothing! I waited until that evening and tracked it again, same thing...nothing. I figured FedEx was behind and tracked it still a 3rd time the following day, same response. I called FedEx and they began a search for the package and that evening SS called stating the package hadn't been received, we have to do this again and can I go NOW, they will pay. I called BO's, he wasn't available so no use calling wife, called SS back and told them I couldn't do it the following day, was going out of town. Before I went to bed that evening I thought "I'll just check the site ONE MORE TIME" and bingo, package was scanned in at 8 p.m. this same evening! Called SS, they quick called Title who was going to send someone from home office down on a Saturday to sign the docs! The driver missed it, I'm now very very leary of drop boxes.

Re: Morning Kate
Thank you Melissa and Sue.
Glad to know it is not just me! These two experiences were so awful because after taking care to try and do everything right, I ended up looking terrribly irresponsible. If someone at FedEx had simply said, "Oh, we screwed up" I would have been thrilled. But instead they told me I must have not dropped the docs in the first place, or that I inadvertently dropped them in a UPS box or worse, a trash can. I'm not asking them to be perfect, but consider humoring me, the customer before defending their drivers blindly.
