Get ready for tax time!
With the repeal of the telephone excise tax, you can claim a refund on your 2006 tax return. Individuals can claim a "safe harbor" refund of $30.00 plus $10.00 for each dependent up to a maximum of $60.00. Of course if you can prove that you paid more by adding up all of your telephone bills since March 2003 you can then take the higher amount. Just a little tidbit I thought you all may want to know.

Also if you know of anyone that does not need to file a tax return, they are not excluded from this refund on the telephone excise tax. They will need to file a simple form (Form 1040EZ-T) to choose the standard amount.
