If I'm reading your question correctly - are you saying that YOU wrote a legal description on a Grant Deed??? Not your job!!!!
You are there to identify the signer and notarize their signature!
Now if you have a whole loan package to sign, I would notify Title or the SS to notify Title that there is missing information of the Grant Deed. You can not notarize a signature for a document with blanks in them.

Now are we allowed to prepare a grant deed.

NO!!!!
Before you do any loan signings please take a Loan Signing Course (if you haven't already), and know your Notary Handbook inside out and backwards!
A notary can not prepare ANY document - it's UPL (unauthorized practice of law)

I'm so glad you said that. I know I was taught that wasn't my job.

maria.......i am not in..............
your state but a word to the wise.......do not try to fill in any thing on a document ecspecially on a DEED.........under contract law [in all states that i know of] if there is any thing wrong with the the document in will construe against the drafter of the document......what if the description given you was off by 1 number and it turned out to be the neighbors property?....in wi i can prepare deeds and certain rel estate related documents because i am a real estate broker, however when i need a warranty or quit claim deed i leave that up to the title co or the lawyers involved as i do not want the responsibility that it may be wrong....also i don't believe that your Notary E&O Insurance would cover that as it is not a notary function.......always err on the side of caution and don't try to play lawyer.....it will never serve you well......jmho................................
