How much would you charge?

Not looking for exact numbers (that's your business) but what would you charge for a split signing - same county different location...just curious as I got a call, quoted my fee, was then told it's a split between two borrowers, asked for $25 extra and he has to call me back..

Was it unreasonable to ask for extra money to go through the package twice?

Look at it this way. It's two separate signings. You should get two fees. $25., and he has to call you back? That's bs.....jmo

Linda, think about it. If they had to have two notaries to cover it, say it was across state, is it right for one to get paid $25.?

So, you drive to borrower 1, sign docs, pick up and drive to borrower 2, and sign again, all on the same day? Given all the extra time involved, I would have charged an extra 50% above my normal fee for the original assignment. $25.00 was nothing...IMO.

If fee is $125 ( $100 over night + $25 for printing) I'll charge $225 for signing service. I did 3 of those.

I'd charge an additional $50. You have to take into consideration your time in going over the docs a second time in addition to the extra trip.

He claimed the other signer was "right around the corner" - so travel didn't play into it - I was figuring the extra time involved between two locations - bothered me he didn't tell me it was split until I quoted my fee.

I was told it was a straight refi only to find out it was 2 sets. Next time I'll make sure when I let them know if the loan have more than one set of doc's this is my price and I can't accept the assigment unless we agree on the price.

I notice you have to be a fast thinker and be alert when talking to these SS most are good at scamming or chopping up your fee they do it for a living. All I can do is learn from them.

Thanks screw me once shame on you...

They're good at what they do and I have no doubt if I don't listen carefully and remember to not totally focus on their needs but remember what it could cost me in the end Vs to what they agreed to pay me I'll be the one geting screwed.

Like judge Judy would say put on your listening ears hhaaaaa!! and stick to my fee

Well - not two sets - he told me it was a single refi - but needed to be signed in two locations - so essentially the same - I'd have to go through the package twice -

Sorry thing is the caller ID showed a law firm.

Re: I HONESTLy started to feel a bit greedy at first

asking for the extra money - til I realized what I'd have to do - I basically offered to do a second closing for $25.00 - then I didn't feel so bad

They haven't called back yet - it's been one of those weeks for me - turned away 3 signings way outside my service area, call from SOX last night..then that call today - not exactly a profitable week.

what about SS request the doc be faxed after signing?

I been ask by SS to fax back the signed doc prior to drop off at fedex. to fax doc, usually takes up a good 1/2hr for me to get it done. one time I was doing a signing out of town and I had to fax it back after signing, not knowing any better, I went to Kinko’s to have it faxed, the manager was very nice he told me it is not worth the price to fax it with them the doc is 100 pages and it would cost me $200 to fax it at Kinko’s. I was upset and was lost. what does one do with request for fax docs?

Re: what about SS request the doc be faxed after signing?

I got a call from a company the other day - wanted me to drive an hour and a half one way for a signing and fax back ALL notarized documents - I turned it down.
