I need a couple days off!!!!

I am exhausted. I've worked every single day, including turkey day since my dad passed away on the 5th. If it's not closings and title work, it's pet sitting with Allegra's new pet sitting business (check out her cute website http://www.hoofandpawpetsitting.com and my first attempt at logo design). I'd really like to take a couple days, and do nothing, not even answer my phone, but I don't seem able to stop working. Why is it so hard to stop for a few days?

Leave a message on your phone that you are unavailable until (whatever date - at least 3 to 5 days) and JUST DO IT!!!! You need to make time for yourself, to grieve, to recoup, to renew, to regroup. The holiday season is upon us and stresses are up - you don't need this too.

Take 3-5 days, sleep in, get a massage, pedicure, manicure, hairstyle, bake cookies, spend quality time with your family, etc. etc. etc. you get the idea.

I have found in the past (and even now) that you need to balance your time and priorities, and I think that your number one priority right now is YOU.

Enjoy your time off Smile

I did the same thing when my mom passed away. If you stop, you have to deal with the loss, so you don't stop. Sooner or later your body Will stop you. I ended up in the hospital. Do what Barbara said NOW, before your body gives out. It does get easier, you never forget and you never stop missing them, but the pain does ease up. My prayers are with you and your family...

Re: I need a couple days off!!!...

Lisa, take the time you need! Two years ago, when my mother died, I luckily had a friend that agreed to run all my calls for me. I'd take the calls, then, with full knowledge of the hiring party, have my friend run them. That's how I ended up in business with my business partner, but, now, if either of us needs a day off, we know we can do it without losing all our business.

Let your biggest clients know that you'll be off for x days, if you feel that you must, then take that time off. You deserve it!

I agree - However it is hard to

Take some time for yourself, although I know how you feel! Last Friday (yes, the dreaded black Friday), I worked all day, saw 2 persons run red lights and several accidents. I thought that I had gotten through the day when I was leaving from my 6:15 appointment and was rear ended (very hard, I might add). Well, since it was EOM, I had closings scheduled for Saturday, as well. Woke up Saturday morning and I could bearly move my head! I did take Monday off, but I am still working as always, just because I am too stubborn to let some of other agents take my signings from my good clients! Your situation is much different and sometimes things can catch up to us - Take a day or so off and get the much needed rest you need!

Hi NC/Lisa, do you mind if I print and post Allegra's flier at my office in Cary, NC. We have a ton of pet people here who love to vacation. :-)

What you need...

Look there ya go drummin' up more biz for Alexa...

Here's the solution so you can take some time and relax...

A 17 year old boyfriend with a car for Alexa...

Uh, maybe not. (But now driving her around yourself sounds so much easier than it did yesterday, don't it)

Blessing to you and yours... and all the energy you need ... and the wisdom to say "enough" before it's too late... you'll get this together, watch and see.

Re: What you need...

Allegra gets her graduated license in February, so she can drive herself around. She's going to get mad at me, but one of her Xmas gifts is a road safety kit, lots of flashlights for the pet sitting, jumper cables, etc. Grandma is giving Allegra her 2002 Camry with 130,000 miles on it. So Allegra will be pet sitting in style.

I'm going to take next Friday and the following Monday off. I think I'm getting near the end of my rope. I haven't slept well the last few weeks, and yesterday I went to the Orange County Register of Deeds to record a DT, and fell asleep while I was waiting for them to probate it. (It took them 1.5 hours to print me a dang receipt!!! that is what they call probating). That tells me it's time to slow down a bit, and December is usually a slow month, so I should take advantage.

Good for you...

Take those days, you've earned 'em

By the way (in case you haven't heard) rumor has it that Camry is just about at it's half-life. That's a good ride.
