Borrowers sometimes make me growl...
I always am on my best behavior too, BUT sometimes, that dosen't matter! IE: A few weeks ago at a signing, there was a doc the borrower questioned me about (I can't remember which doc right now though) It was an out of state company and I had to look at the doc carefully because it was worded differently than the norm. It was just a normal doc but he was concerned about it, so I told him to call his LO if he was uncomfortable and the LO could explain it to him. I'm sitting right there listening as he tells his LO that " the notary has never seen anything like it! She says I should make sure you explain it to me before I sign it." WHAT? When did I say this? Borrowers don't realize that by changing just a few words, they makes us sound bad. Like I said Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I know your pain! It hasn't happened to me in awhile, but I have had "problem" bwrs use me to try to intimidate their LO's. One in particular I recall was a lady who felt like she was getting a bad deal (of course she didn't want any of her debts to be included as payoff's, and did not want title insurance, lol) but after I had explained that I was here as an impartial witness to the transaction, knew nothing of the "why" of the fees and payoffs, but am here to explain what the docs were, and make sure she signed and initialed in the right places, and to notarize her signature where required. And to call the LO with any specific questions. Well, to make a short story long, she got on the phone with the LO and told her that "the notary said it was a bad deal, she wouldn't sign it, and that the fees were outrageous, etc. And that if they didn't waive the fees and payoffs and title insurance, she would go to a different company." OMG! Needless to say, she didn't sign, I didn't get paid, and this lender has never called me again, even after I called her back upon leaving the brw's home. The LO didn't give me an earful, but I could tell she believed I botched her deal. Before leaving I told the brw she should have not made up that story to the LO. The brw told me she wanted the LO to know that someone was "on her side", and she didn't care if it meant "losing my job with that company". Whatcha gonna do? From that point on, I began using PAW's form for brws stating why they wouldn't sign, but the whole experience with that certain brw scarred me for awhile, LOL.
