I read your post on the thread about TCT and decided to start with my response in a new thread as it's pretty much buried now. As far as 'met my fee' question, I set my fees accordingly. If I have a neighborhood signing where the b's get the docs or they are overnighted to me, I will go as low as $50. if it's a 20 minute heloc, it costs pennies in gasoline. Regular ReFi's that are electronically shipped get a $25. print charge along with my base of $75. in my zip code area. I add an additional fee for a second and those print charges as well. If I go out of my county, I tack on more $$$ to travel. Usually TC's will pay us here in AL anywhere from (base) $125 to $225. Dependant on different factors. If you don't take the job, someone else will. I always negotiate and if I see a profit to the bottom line I will take it. I will also run over to the court hose to record mortgages as a favor to one of my TCs for $25 a trip. You must determine what your area market will bear. There are always going to be the $50 takers. I stay competitive and with the accuracy record, it's not hard to get assignments. You cannot set yourself up to get 'knocked' out of the box by demanding such high fees when you have competition next door that is waiting the the job you just turned down. Pretty soon, they won't bother to call you. I'll take a $50 heloc in my zip and grab a bunch of my marketing toys and pass them out, why get all pretty for 20 minutes? I made $50 and marketed instead of staying at home waiting for a better offer. Take the work or they will pass you up every time, they keep notes, many SSs share a single database. I went out to Madison last night to witness a will signing, I can only charge $1.50 per sig, I charged a trip fee and the check she wrote came to $31.00. We had nothing better to do, so I took the job and that signing bought us dinner at Applebees. A night out and stopping somewhere for 15 minutes with my stamp, I can't find anything wrong with that! Good going on that candy bag/card deal!! You'll go far if you just think smart and keep that little extra edge over your competitor Anytime you want to talk just give me a shout.

Charm: Thank's for the info, it was very helpful and your
openness abut taking a $50 job (under excellent cirmcumstances) opened my eyes. Many here wont admit to that and in fact berate it (if I have understood correctly). Sometime's it take's someone else to explain their point of view to make us realize there is another way of looking at thing's and yes, a nice dinner at Applebee's for the price of a 15 minute stop, more than makes sense. Good for you Charm! Thanks for the offer to "give you a shout" and I wll. Back to the candy bag's, I have a feeling it is going to be a great day!

I totally agree with you regarding the HELOC's and $50.00, not that I don't get more at times also. I had a call last tuesday night, they wanted to pay me 60.00 for Edocs, I said I'll do it for $75.00, it is just down the road. He called back yesterday, gave me this song and dance, since it was the slow time of the month would I take 70.00. I again told him, bottom line was $75.00. Never called back, when I got back on the computer, there was my confirmation for $75.00. They probably do this to allot of notaries and get them to say yes.
