Minnesota notaries question
Has anyone been notified by IREP that they need to get a title producers license to continue doing business with them? I was called yesterday and told that a new law was passed that all notaries in MN will need one to continue loan signings in MN. And no, this one has nothing to do with the NNA. I have a call into the Commerce dept, but haven't heard back. The person I spoke with is checking the statutes.

Re: I have friends...
I really am trying to get to bed, but that has been bugging me since yesterday. I was on the phone with the commerce dept. and the person I spoke with said that it wouldn't apply to us, but when I contacted IREP back, I was told that the legal dept. at IREP was also in contact with them as was told otherwise. They said that all notaries in MN doing loan signings would have to have the license and would most likely have similar laws passed in other states in the not-to-distant future. Just want to hear what others are being told. If I need it, I will comply.
Thanks for replying, Lisa. You are always so helpful and appreciated!

I am glad to hear that Md. won't be the only state requiring that you go through hoops to do signings!!!!

Hi JoJo, I have not heard this, but would like to hear what you find out. If I hear anything, I will post here.

Thanks, Lisa. I won't be doing any follow up on it until after the 12th. I'm doing the unthinkable and taking off 12 days in a row. No phones, e-mail or anything.

JOJO,
I do a ton of signings in Minnesota...most of the SS and TC I deal with are out of the Twin Cities and St. Cloud.
Nary a peep from any about this..nor from the Dept of Commerce or SOS.
Personally, I think it's bull. Time will tell.
